The two cultures mix about as well as water and oil.

Probably best no one showed. Might have ended up in a full blown Holy war.

That was my thoughts.
If the fella is a die hard muslim, that may have been the best option for the pour gal. I just hope for her sake that his love of her is stronger than that of his religion, sharia law would be a rough way to live as a woman. crazy

Those were sort of my thoughts.
The only other positive aspect is that neither cultures drink alcohol; alcohol added to the event would make for a real fiasco.

Here's a terrible story. Bride got caught with her "head down" with one of the guess after the wedding at the reception.

Imagine paying for a wedding and divorce all in one night.

My Wife’s engagement ring and wedding band was $9000, my wedding ring was $1800, and our wedding cost $15,000. I wouldn’t have it any other way! Just had our 8th baby the other day!!

Hmmm without sounding like a redneck, I’ve been to two really nice weddings over the last couple of years that probably went between $2-3K max. But these were down to earth country young ladies with lots of friends. The venue at both was donated as long as it was cleaned up afterwards and they shut it down before midnight. And yeah this was a nice place with a beautiful set up for a wedding. When cowboy boots for both parties are worn, it’s gonna be a good one.

Me and the ole lady jumped the broom at the Justice of the Peace at her home out in the country. Cost $35 I think.
We've been married for 35 years.
It was the happiest 7 years of my life...

My wife and I had our ceremony at the oldest Catholic church in San Francisco, then had everybody drive an hour plus to a special piece of land next to a river that a friend owned. 150 people, most who brought food, lots of dogs and no dress code. We supplied BBQ chicken and lots of beer and wine in horse troughs. Four hunting buddies from college surprised me and took me up the hill with a 12 pack for my "bachelor party".

We did the whole thing for about $1,000 and that was about all the money we had at the time. I still have people tell me that was the best wedding they'd ever been to.

In two weeks it'll make 35 years.

Pete

I have given the advice of keep your wedding inexpensive as you don't want to start the first day of your life together in debt. My alternative to this is throw a big expensive party if you need one when you celebrate 40-50-60+ years because that is the real thing to celebrate.

We did ours ourselves at the family farm. Hay bails for seats, venison for food, and all of the work by us. Only things we spent money on were a dress, rings, tent, and bounce house for the kids. Luckily we rent out a building to folks that operate a party rental company so they gave us a good deal on the tent and bounce house rental. Probably had less than $4,000 in everything and had more fun than any wedding I'd ever been to.

The last wedding I was involved in. My sister and I offered our niece 10K if she would forgo the wedding and use the court house.

Took us up on it. Used it for some additional training and upped her salary by 15K per year.

She did have a "traditional Irish reception". Lasted about 16 hrs (not counting hang overs)

Mother was ticked off initially but thanked us later

My wife and I got hitched at the court house for about $35.00.
Her dress was $60.00
My "outfit" (dress pants and white dress shirt) was free, I already had the pants and shoes and I borrowed a shirt from her dad.
My ring was $100.00, her band and ring was $300.00 (from Wally World). I later got her a new ring, which was $1,300.00.
Our "reception" was held at "Old Country Buffet". We were so broke that we couldn't afford to pay for our own meals. Luckily, family members paid for us, without us having to ask.
Mind you, we were 20 years old with a baby due in 3 months.
We have been married (happily) now for 15 years.
