Anybody looked at a new truck lately? That's if you can find one. Car lots around here are almost empty. Went to three different dealerships this weekend and there was a grand total of three new trucks. One didn't have a single new truck on the lot. I've seen the pictures from Kentucky of thousands of vehicles just waiting for chips. My question what is going to happen when all these 2021s get on the market at the same time the 22 are rolling out? I've been looking for a vehicle for a couple months now. Was going to buy used but their the same price as a new. I may be able to get a new one shortly but I'm tempted to play the market and see what happens with price when supply lines bust wide open. What's your thoughts, what's it like every where else?

A friend just bought a new Chevy. It wasn't really the one he wanted but its a take what you can get market everywhere, I think.
I think there is a lot of pent up demand for new vehicles so the market will stay hot for awhile.

I'd wait 18 months at least if you can hold out.

Local Ford lot just filled up, maybe things are turning a corner? Used prices are outrageous, I bought a Kodiak Dump truck because it was cheaper than buying a new work pickup.

I just bought a new Chevy. Everything on the lot was sold. Everything in transit to the dealership was sold. I bought mine sight unseen, not even built yet, but purchase order had been accepted. Originally told me 4-6 weeks minimum. Just waiting to sign papers now. Little over2 week wait

They say you can get what you paid for a 2 year old used truck now the bad thing is you cannot replace it most likely unless you pay the crazy price.

I was looking for a used truck and soon discovered I could buy new for near the same price. I bought a new Ford Ranger in early April. Got a good price and the truck I wanted right down to the color and all options. I must have been lucky.

I bought a new Ford dually 350 a month ago and there were but a handful in Texas at that moment. I bought the truck within a 15 minute window as another guy wanted it and I'm sure they were lined up behind him. No Ford discount. No drop in MSRP. Nada. I did get $5,000 more for my Tundra trade in than my best hope going in which was crazy.
Got back from the dealership and my neighbor who owns car lots in San Antonio wanted to buy it for "more" than I bought it for two hours ago?????
What? Bruce said he could up the price I paid new by $5,000 and sell it all day long.
Crazy times.

One of my work trucks, a 2000 GMC Savanna 2500, is near the end of it's service life. One garage wouldn't inspect it because of body and frame rot. My old reliable mechanic will do some welding on the frame, replace a leaf spring shackle and tie rod end and I'll get another year out of it.

So I've been looking at used. Like everybody said, might as well buy new, not much difference in pricing. Hopefully, pricing and availability improve as America's workforce gets back at it and the supply chain gets straitened out.

And if the government quits handing out free money!

Eh...wot?

I was at a Chevrolet dealership the other day. They had a used 2019 Silverado with a 6.2 liter in the showroom with a 60K price on it. Nothing on the lot that wasn't sold. I'd sure wait until the supply opens up if you can. The salesman told me in some areas, rental car companies were paying 10K over sticker price to get cars to rent.

Depends on what you need for a truck. I dont need to pull more than a 2 ton trailer or a big truck bed. My pickup needs to go offroad. I trap in some pretty rough and pretty remote places sometimes. I bought a dodge dakota in 08. Its offroad ability is pretty sorry. So I just bought a jeep gladiator. Went to the jeep web site build your gladiator page. When I finished I had a price. Then had to find a dealer to order it. They all wanted to sell me what was already on their lot but no one had what I had specked out. Finally found a dealer in Olathe that would order it. I dont think they make as much as they would like when you do that. Told me it would take 10 weeks to get but only took about 6. So far I like it better everytime I drive it. Window sticker said made for Danny Clifton on top. kinda cheezy but I liked it anyway.

Nice Jeep Danny. I’m guessing you’d have to work pretty hard to get that thing stuck.

What’s crazy is the amount of cash that America is flush with right now.

If I knew I could replace it down the road I’d sell my Tacoma for what I paid for it and drive my rebuilt mini truck until things got back to normal if that ever happens.

Some makes/models are done for the year. They're just skipping ahead to the 22 models

I remember you have posted previously you wanted a stick shift. Are they currently making one with a stick?

The traction option I want only comes with the auto transmissions so I had to pass on the stick idea.
