We had a ton of rain for us in March (3”-4”). Cows have been in wet grass for weeks and we are fighting foot rot like I haven’t seen since 1992-1993. Only good thing about it is I get to hunt in June. Second pic is a shot from about 20 yards. You can see the aluminum dart hanging out of her neck as she runs off. Dart had 10cc of Draxxin so she should be good for 5 days. I’ve had to dart 5 in the last week.

We usually give a little more than that to a cow. The first dart is pretty easy the second has looked like a Indian Buffalo hunt horseback a time or two.

Yes they are. Cowboy days are over. I punched cattle from 8 years old until I was 28 then became a sod buster. Last one I had roped and treated cost me $200. Darts are $10. Glad these things weren’t around when I was a cowboy they would have cost me a ton of cash and some great times

I still rope way more than I dart but I'm always alone and I don't like laying a momma cow down by myself very much anymore. grin but still end up with one or two 1500 pounds cows on a line for one reason or the other each year...

Something like that LL! I tell the boys I haven’t been kicked in the family jewels by a corn plant in over 20 years and I can’t say the same for the Bovine species. I’m good with that and so are they cool

I'm cursing you right now!! U jinxed me... just got bucked off my best horse roping a calf with foot rot. Calf loose with rope on, horse lose somewhere in half section pasture with two broke reins and me hobbling around trying to find him after hitting ground like ten tons of concrete. I'm going to feel this one for awhile

those Pneu-dart guns are really nice. If your eyes are getting weak , like mine, mount a red dot on top, its a game changer when you have trouble with open sights.

Will the darts puncture a tire if you don't recover them?

We don't recover many. Pretty short aluminum needle and the way they are built not likely to flatten tire.

Lots of places up in the hills of Kansas a cow will go hide from you where she can be sure a rubber tire will never follow.
