There are 2 schools of thought lamb tips give length but moves the measurement down towards the tip. Making your measurement smaller.
Uniformed broomed above the eye that you can put a soccer ball through if your area got the genetics.
If you got a Boone & Crockett book some editions show the the top ten study them then look at them until you see them in your sleep.
Be a good start nothing replaces experience although, hope you wack the next world record .

I don't know much of how to score a ram. But when I won the Nebraska lottery for residents to hunt a bighorn back in 2014 the biologists who run the sheep reintroduction program were my guides. I could of looked longer for a ram that was not "broomed" so much but this ram was over 12 years old going on 13 (he was tagged as a lamb) and was starting to go down hill. I made a decision to take him as I was sure his genes were spread throughout the herd (even watched him breed a hot ewe while waiting for a good shot). His horns points were wore down several inches. His teeth were all but shot and he may not have made it through the winter. The real "prize" was having my son with me just a few yards behind me and spending time with him in the Pine Ridge part of Nebraska. A memory I'll take with me to eternity. I have not hunted desert but have taken a Bighorn ram in an unlimited area of Montana. I hunted sheep for 4 years before I took the ram. In my opinion flared out rams are cool looking but do not always score the best. Tighter and bigger round size horns indicate an older ram and usually a higher score. I would take a photo of every big ram in the area that your client or friend are hunting. Find out who the best B & C judge is for Nevada sheep, call him up and go have a sit down discussion with him. I have found B& C judges to be great people. They love what they do. I like the one the tag holder likes.

Getting your hands on a copy of Jack O'Connor's Sheep and Sheep Hunting wouldn't hurt. I've only hunted Dall but always dreamed of collecting a Rocky Mountain bighorn. Desert sheep would rank just as high.

Doing this dit and definitely putting inbthe work , caneras out and check every 3 weeks. Its 7 hours each way and over hundred degrees every day in the hunt unir. It will be super fun

Does the hunter know what rifle and caliber he will be using on this hunt?

If its possible he'll try witb a bow the first week or so. If not something in the 300 win to 300 rum class.

Using a bow would be a heart thumping adrenaline rush. Please keep us updated on the progress of the hunt.

Talk to people esp. hunters that have had the tag recently. Sometimes they may know where the big one was they did not get. Any competition?
Not sure what dit means ? Did you read my post ? Sheep are like deer. When the rut is on the big boy shows up. Usually out of no where. One you had no idea about. The rams will travel together this time of year but closer to the rut they split off. What you see now may not be there when the season opens.

Diy is what it should have been. There 7 or 8 other tags in this unit. Hopefully we can get a look at whats there and find them again during the season.

Lots of competition. Not sure if you have any outfitters hunting with clients in your area but if you do they will hunt hard and put in the time. They can be brutal competition.
