I'm thinking I'm needing a fun target pistol. I could be talked into a .22 or 9 mm. I've considered a Ruger, Beretta 87 target, and the Glock 17. I have a Glock 26 that I carry in my field vest, I love it, and I'm a huge fan of Glock! So I'm really leaning towards a Glock 17 to keep the ammo the same at my 26, and keep the family used to handling Glocks.
But I would appreciate the trapper mans input. Thanks!

if you want more of a target gun , G34 the longer slide and sight radius , same frame size as the G17
the G17 isn't really a "target" gun but can do quite well , a new connector helps I like the Ghost Evo Elite , you fit it with a file to take up your over travel
the Ruger MKIII with a MKII hammer bushing to get rid of the magazine disconnect that drags on the trigger
I haven't played with the MKIV yet to know how to disable the magazine disconnect the take down is definitely nicer on the MK4 (IV) if you can find a good price on a MK3 si wouldn't hesitate , nor worry about the take down , it is just learning a procedure and having good light.

I have a MK IV 22/45 lite. I put the competition kit from volquartzen in it. Also a compensator and race gun kit from tandemcross. It’s really fun and accurate. I have a fast fire 3 on the low mount kit that slides in the rear dovetail. Everyone loves shooting it. Many hours of fun. Just put thousands of rounds through it at our deer camp with a crew of guys last weekend.

One that you can find ammo for getting little better got 9mm at fleet Saturday they had several cases behind the counter they had one box of each type where the lack of handguns were in the cabinet as a sign stating the limits on ammo , they would sell you up to 200 rounds. price for blazer bass was $34.99 per hundred which is almost back to normal

I have a Ruger Mark 1 .22 Target pistol. I have a Lyman mount on it with a 2X Burris scope. We shoot a lot year around be it paper targets or balloons. It is very accurate out to 100 yards. WS

Browning Varmint Buckmark. 9 1/2 bull barrel. Don't get in its way.

Smith & Wesson Model 41 with the 7.5" barrel. Find one used, they're much higher quality. I would rather have this than all the modified Rugers

Scuba, my dad had that model colt. Granddad carried a high standard HD Military. They would leave at dawn with one of Granddads squirrel dogs and be back before noon with a limit each,10 apiece and every one was headshot. They had a pecan orchard to hunt in so that didn’t hurt any.

If you can find a ruger Mk govt. Target model you would be set. This or a mk2. I have yet to handle a mark 3 or above that can come close to accuracy and trigger quality of my old mark 2. If I see another in good shape at fair price I will buy them.

I guess I am old fashioned. Colt woodsman Target. My go to squirrel tool. Great gun...if you can find one. I grew up with that gun. I probably put 5,000 rounds through it before I turned 18 and left home. I'm assuming my dad still owns it but I haven't seen it in over 30 years. I'll have to ask him about it.
