I remember back a few years when they went public and people like PETA were buying stock.

The consensus was it would come to this by most here.

I remember CG sending reps to trapper conventions saying they wanted coyotes certified, that they were taken humanly and according to state laws. From what I saw trappers told to CG to pound sand for the most part. I picked the rep up at his hotel and hauled him back after he faced trappers not wanting any part of it at a NDFTA convention. I ask him on the way back to his hotel, what CG would do if they did not get the certification, and was told that it wasn't his call, but he would bet they would stop using fur. So is CG the bad guy? Maybe trappers did it to themselves. The same thing happened with LL Bean years ago.
They guy with the check book owns the ball and runs with it. Sometimes it pays to listen to him.

I heard people say that at the convention. I am not betting, I know it stupid to kill your market. But, to many it was the right thing to do.

Because most will look like crap in a couple of years compared to real fur. Then again, people who are buying $800 parkas probably get new coats every 2-3 years...

Aren't all coyotes caught legally also caught humanely?

The handwritings been on the wall for quite awhile. Won't make a great deal of difference if we read it or not. I doubt when it's outlawed I'll kill any game wardens over it.

They already had enough info on where and by who the pelts came from without putting more burden on trappers to do their "tracing".

PETA'S news release on this says they are switching their focus to the Down filling now.

Re-engage is the word they used so Canada Goose isn't rid of them yet.

From what I have seen, yes. That's why I didn't see why trapper thought they were giving an inch. hippie, what was the burden? Sighing a statement? I have signed paper work selling fur for forty years. Name, address, license number signature. Most states require fur buyers to keep that information for reports at the end of the year.
One thing that is for sure, Canada Goose isn't going to push the market any this year. But at least no one was burdened.

If you sent a pelt to NAFA, if you did as a did, you gave them your name, address, phone number, signature and fur trapping license number. From there NAFA sold it to Canada Goose and then we got paid. So tell me, how wasn't that fur traceable back to me when C.G.bought it?

Traceability wasn't the end goal because they already had that.

Traceability was never anything more than a marketing tool. All sorts of products use labelling to make their product stand out. Free range, organic, dolphin free, locally grown,....... bla bla bla. I don't think there was any sinister end goal.

You're correct imo Walleye. I should have added.....if there was a goal towards trappers.
