Rubber baits made to look like frogs or crayfish clipped to pan of a trap. Have yet to get a coon to work one. More of a novelty and tried several for many years before I gave up wasting my time.
Danny i had same luck trying some gifted fish meal from local co-op. Same with a bone meal supplement, couldnt get coon or coyotes to be interested in either one.
20 mule team borax was touted as an off the shelf easy to obtain alternative bait preservative for making predator baits, back in 80s and 90s. Never had a single dirthole touched when I used baits preserved with thst stuff.
I do use bacon grease and have caught a lot of stuff on that. carp chunked up and either frozen fresh or salted with canning salt is a winner for both coyotes and coon.
Tire set. Tried that in several pastures with cattle over the years. Couldn't get a coyote to step into middle of the tire to fire the trap. They would circle around to smell the bait but never commit. Couldn't even get a coon with that set either. Bait, lure, didnt matter.
Owls are highly attracted to an electronic squeaker at sets, and not fun to turn loose either.
Using only fish at pocket sets does not make them beaver proof.
I dont care where folks have told me to shoot skunks so they won't spray...they always spray when I shoot them. Head, back, lungs, chest, heart, anywhere.
Anyway, that's my list of doesn't works for me stuff.
