Sounds like a back door approach to eliminate fur farms, under the guise of fighting CV-19.

Once they eliminate fur farms, they will go after wild fur. Guarantee it!!!! They get a foot in the door and away they go.

Happened in California back in the 60s. First red fox were protected. Then otter. Then something else. Then bobcats. Now you can’t trap at all there.

The antis are winning bit by bit. Washington, Colorado. Arizona. Massachusetts. On and on and on.

I know a lot of trappers don’t like ranch fur but we gotta stick together. Fur is fur!!

As a former small mink rancher and a person that worked for a huge Mink Ranch in WI during my college years this is a very sad thing to here. It’s a done deal for sure. Only effecting 275 Ranches at the most. Mink ranching numbers have been going steadily down since the 1950’s here in the USA. All are family ranches , not enough people in the industry to stop it. What maybe 1500 votes in the industry that can raise heck about it. Only hope would be if the farming industry as a whole try's to put a stop to it. Chicken , Turkeys , Cattle , Pigs next. Marty

Fur farming has already been banned in a lot of countries and a lot more have it coming to an end in the next few years.

This will put furriers out of the business. Then who's going to sell fur?

Martyd - not sure why you consider it a done deal. Sounds very pessimistic on your part. Are you giving up without a fight??

Mink ranchers and trappers need to get together and fight this. Is there a mink breeders association in the US or are they all gone.?

Now is NOT the time to throw up your hands and say “I give up”. That is what the antis like to see - folks that give up without a fight.

If the base facts are regarding COVID then the bill should include a sunset date or some time period or rationale regarding COVID and animal mutation and spreading, if not then the the not so well hidden agenda will be widely known and support will dwindle. I too hope that large organizations like the Federal Farm Bureau, national Farmers organization, National milk producers etc. get on board as all domesticated and tame species could easily implicated in the reproduction, hosting and mutation of COVID and other related viruses. All the more reason we want to obtain a strong herd immunity as fast as we can and throughout the world as well.

Im not the smartest person but I think if you played the cards just right you could use people's fear of the "scary" virus to control everything.

Second thought that's a stupid idea. People are way to smart to fall for something like that.

They probably don't know that mink ranchers in the U.S. have been vaccinating their mink herds since the fall of 2020 for Covid-19 virus. Something Democrats and Dr. Fauci have been pushing as the only way to be safe, guess they need mink Cov-19 passport now.

Sent Mace an e-mail. She is from South Carolina. If she was concerned about people's health I wonder why she doesn't introduce legislation to ban tobacco? Just another RINO journalism major/politician that can't be trusted to do the right thing.

Maybe the mink ranchers can use all that money they made the last 5 years to fight this ban? frown

Sounds like most mink ranchers went under last few years . Nothing good or funny about this type of bill. It will set a presidence for eliminating or alter all livestock farming as we know it. Make no mistake the culture war to eliminate the way of life most on this forum lead is real. This BS bill is the tip of the iceberg.

Thing is there are two furbuyers here that are worried about a ban and not worried about low prices that accomplish the same thing. frown

Wissmiss at 62 a lot of my time and work has been fighting the anti’s for 40 years. Both as a mink rancher , trapper. The slow death that mink ranching has seen since the 1950’s will continue just my opinion. Hope I am wrong.
In 1950’s there was over 6000 mink ranchers in the USA. Now less than 275. The 275 number was reported by USDA 5 or 6 year as ago it’s a lot less then that now. I still belong to a few state Mink Ranching Assoc just so we can show USDA that are membership numbers have not gone down. I have many friends in Denmark that have closed their ranches because of Covid. It’s a shame. But when your industry has 1500 direct people ( associated with hands on mink ranching only ) it will be very hard to stop the progression to ban Mink ranching. Just my opinion with 40 years involved in the Mink Ranching and Trapping community. Wissmiss let’s hope the younger people can fight the fight as as good as us old timers have the last 40 years. Marty
