Losing one's mental abilities and personal freedom is indeed a huge fear for many and will be an increasing issue and concern as millions more live longer and longer. The 80's is the most common decade of one's life where mental issues start and worsen. Fifty years ago not many lived long enough to suffer from those issues, but more and more do every year and we live longer and longer and no real cure or slowing of the process on the horizon as of yet.
