National Geographic has been publishing bs stories for some time now. Its only when you are close to a situation you realize that they are bs stories.

I think I've told this story before but when Wild About Trapping was going, there was a Wisconsin guy that would take a couple of weeks off to go after coyotes. He never really said where in the state he trapped, but I'm thinking it was north-central. Anyway, he and his nephew used to have cool wolf releases videos. His percentage of wolf vs yote catches continued to increase over the 2-3 years he reported. The last year, I think it was maybe 2015, he caught 19 canines and 5 of them were wolf for an over 25% wolf ratio. In one of his release videos, he was pretty sure the wolf they were releasing (a female) he had caught as a yoy the year before (some coloration pattern had caught his eye). I would think that a 25% wolf to coyote yield would be considered a high wolf population...

Wolves seem to be smarter and harder to trap than coyotes so with a 25%catch rate i woukd think the wolve coyote ratio is even higher

You would think...
This what happens when wildlife biology becomes overly political. The WI DNR biologists probably know that the wolf pop is more than 600-700 critters but if they came out with more realistic estimates, such as 2,000 animals (just using as an example), then the lefties in state government would suppress that estimate because the majority of Wisconsin residents would probably favor a management program on them. Because PETA and such can raise money from all over the USA, and the world for that matter, and funnel it to Democratic election pac's, the leftie politicos are beholding to that special interest group. The circle goes around and round...

I think wolves are easier than coyotes to trap. I think it is because most of them travel in a pack and there is a race to a baited dirt hole, unlike a coyote who may walk past a few times.

Here's a headline for the fake news. Wisconsin Wolves : all 12000 female wolves in Wisconsin gave birth to a average litter size of 23 pups. Record birth rate since wolves have been delisted.

the DNR they say 1034-1056 Minimum on the 2019 report and 256 packs with 13% growth from the previous year and about 85% of packs observed having pups
218 wolves killed / 1034 = 21%
218 wolves killed / 1056 = 20%
at no point is 20 or 21% = to 33.3%
the target of 119 wolves = 11% just less than the growth rate , intending to have no impact on the size of the states pack.
1034-1056 is a Minimum number a very conservative number
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Thanks GreenCountyPete! So where do you think the NatGeo losers got the "650" number...? Maybe you should send them an e-mail linking this report? Then again, it won't make a difference. It doesn't fit their narrative...
