Just wondering if anybody on Trapperman has any experience with E Bikes or knows of someone who uses them. It seems the laws are changing about where you can use them in the mountains and state and national lands. We go to Colorado elk hunting every fall and due to some back problems I am doing research on them. May purchase one in the future if they check out. Kinda pricey, but if their worth it , just maybe. Thanks

I have been looking into them as well. They sound exactly like something a lungless old fat guy needs to get around again.......but not if the Forest Service outlaws them before I get to use it!

I don't personally own one but have ridden a few different kinds at places I have hunted. I'm not a bike guy but they really impressed me. Flatter ground just twist the throttle like a motorcycle, more hilly country the pedal assist is great. You can slip in and out quietly. Wet conditions and cornstalks slow your roll some, but I still give them a 2 thumbs up. If you hunt really remote I would suggest having some tire tubes and a foot air pump with you as thorns happen

I followed the last thread what I got out of it was plastic gears bad, metal gears or belt drive might be better in the long run. With so many makers out there the chance of buying a obsolete one down the road seems very possible to me.

Check this bike out. I'm not a eBike person , but this thing impressed me. Currently being trialed by the Australian military. Will do 50mph. Guys have thrown piles of cash at them to mod them to go MUCH faster. Swappable Panasonic battery pack , 17-20 miles off road , twice that with another battery in a backpack. Maybe not what a trapper is looking for , but way cool.

I have a Rad Mountain Bike. Paid $1350 with the military discount. Bought a second battery which cost $550. I run it all over the farm even across plowed fields. Does great on all the uneven ground I'm on. Battery charges are supposed to last up to 20 miles. On the farm I'm lucky to get half that.
In summary, I love the thing and can hardly wait to get it over to eastern Oregon to hunt coyotes.
