Today was a first for me. I helped wash 4 Cornish cross and 2 egg layers in the kitchen sink. Nothing unusual about that but today they were alive and feathered. They even got styled with a blow dryer.

Yes it's time for the fair.

I have done plenty of that. Lots of people do with their chooks , as pets or show birds. They are gorgeous after a nice bath , just as all the horses and dogs I have prepped for show.

I also have a perfect bath solution for those whom I have rescued or wanted to add to my flock. A solution of Adam's Flea & Tick liquid in lukewarm bathwater . You have to work the water right through those thick insulating, water shedding down feathers to the skin. Works like a charm. They rinse out clean and free of any parasitic varmints. And chooks really do love a nice bath...treated gently, they relax and enjoy . Dried in soft towels , blow dry or warm room temp . They always do their own needed preening along the way.

Lots of folks do that, most people never know they do.

during our 115 degree weather -- my daughter soaked all of her chickens multiple times -- all made it ok. the neighbor accused her of trying to drown them.

Glad I'm not toe only one. We used a little dawn in the water. I really need to get a nice stainless restaurant sink and tables. Making an outdoor produce wash and butchering station is definitely on the to do list.

Livestock is not judged tell later in the week but on all the other projects but 2 they got 1st, reserve champion, or grand champion. I guess the judge was not a fan of beets or kale we should have ate that instead.

Does that work for cats, too?

Yep, I have had to wash cats and have one that gets shaved with clippers every spring because he hits matted up . No gloves needed on these just a firm grip on the scruff of the neck.
