There are basically 3 types of pay pheasant hunting in South Dakota.
There are people who take coin for letting you hunt their land. Such places may or may not manage their land for more birds. A few of these places may take hunters around or provide dogs, but probably not he normal.
The next step up are 'lodges" that only hunt wild birds and are then only open during the regular pheasant season. They may or may not have lodging and meals in the package. Such places usually provide guides and dogs, but not all.
The last step up the hung are places that are open longer than the normal SD pheasant season (often Sept through March). These guys have to release a certain ratio of pen raised birds because they are most likely also killing wild birds during the normal off-season times. Many have lodging and a certain number of meals included in their plans.
In any case, bring a pile of Benjamins...
"And God said, Let us make man in our image and let them have dominion and all the creatures that move along the ground". Genesis 1:26

Once SD went to paid hunting years back many things were lost in the shuffle like the traditional family/friend hunts you just don’t see the hunters like in the past years. Most hunts involve vans and buses now that replaced the caravans of hunters heading to their spots before shooting time.
Look up Allen’s guide service 800 435-5591 talk to Gary
Kimball SD Guide services talk to Lee Pulse 605 730-2704

There's a 4th type as well... I got out to South Dakota two times each fall and hunt only public land and ditches. I never pay anyone for access to land or birds I do quite well too. But, I've been doing this for a while and I've spent a lot of time learning the public land and good sections of ditches. I'm not sure you can just show and be successful...it's going to take some time and effort. I've also done some canned hunts at Woods and Meadows in Warrens. I went on these with work. I would never pay money to hunt here, but to each his own.
