Made a box for the bike trailer. Its removable. Will be able to haul more stuff to camp without stuff bouncing out,and keep the weather off.

looks good , I would probably make up some brackets to go on the corners sort of like a ladder rack ti keep things from sliding off and give tie down points , cause it is a flat space so you know your going to need just one more place to put something

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Speaking from personal experience here. You may have problems with rolling the trailer unless you are only using it on good level roads and trails. I built a few trailers to pull behind a fourwheeler. First one I bought, by the time I was done modifying it and repairing what broke I think the only thing original was a part of the frame, and that had been beefed up. You don't want it much wider than the stance of the fourwheeler so it will fit wherever the fourwheeler goes, but you want the weight as low as possible, so I ended up building them with the box between the tires rather than over them. I put suspension on them, tried all types, leaf sprung, coil sprung and shocked with solid axle and independent with coils, regardless of the suspension type it helps with bouncing, as long as you tailor the stiffness of the suspension to the weight of the trailer and load. I found no suspension but tires to be entirely too bouncy with an empty trailer or light load. Of course if you drive slow and easy you won't be as likely to break stuff or bounce the trailer off the trail as I was wink. Regardless, with the box you will end up loading stuff higher, so whatever you can do to lower the center of gravity will improve the stability of the trailer.

Box looks good, even if tall, and you WILL end up trying to strap stuff on top of it at some point, so putting tiedown hooks on there will probably save you headaches later. I like the multiple ways to access cargo.

I hauled my canoe quite a bit on the trailer empty(before the box).I go on some very rough trails, occasionally, only tipped the trailer a couple times due to bouncing off tree roots. Not really a big deal It is light enough to throw back on the wheels. The canoe is quite a bit heavier than the box.
Although the box looks high in the pic,it is only a foot off the trailer. The box is easy to remove to carry the canoe.I would not put the canoe on top of the box-it would definitely be too top heavy.
I have a flat top for the trailer also.Been trapping with bike and trailer since 94.

I got a buddy who is a long time moose hunter. He has a bike trailer with a crane that works off the winch on the bike.he uses it to lift moose quarters out of the boat and into the Bike trailer-pretty slick. His trailer is home made and is very long and narrow.

I like it! It has a lot of potential for add ons! If I made one. By the end of the season, I would look like a gipsy going down the trail! grin

I would add some air shocks/lift cylinders like Raises and hold rear hatches and mini van doors up. Should save you a few headaches. A rack and tie downs on top would be handy.

I also like the dual access some cables to stop it from dropping beyond 90° would give you another shelf to work off of. Looks nice and very useful.

I am sure that your design Boco comes from many hours on the trail. That where my ideas come from anyway. Covered trailers and sleds are well worth the effort building IMO. Good job!!!
