Anyone going? I got something in the mail on it. It appears to be a great event for wildland forest owners

I grew up about 10 miles east of Osseo, so I remember well the forest mixes we had there. Our farms were sandier soils and thus not many of the better western WI species.

Over where I live now we need forestry workshops on how to reforest after losing our millions of ash trees. Where my daughter lives only 15 miles south they were half dead two years ago, now they are about 80% and now we are about 1/3rd to half dead. Lot of ash being logged out before they all die. Some really nice logs coming out of some places but one needs to be careful on working with firms, some really damage what is left and around here that is some white oak, hickory, beech and quite a bit of hard maple.

The forests in west central Wi don't seem to have much beech, hickory, or ash. I believe this is a statewide event though, so it might be worth attending even if 1 doesn't live near Osseo.

Think I may attend this. We have a good ash and beech on our land currently. Harvested a lot of black ash four years ago. Use the beech for firewood as the tops seem to die out.

I attended. It was great. Wi puts on some great forestry seminars.

Do many of you have your land in the Tree Farm program? I've thought about looking into it, though I am not sure I understand how I would benefit from putting my land in the program. I suppose it might make it easier for me to get grants.
