I've been told that SAE is SAE or any basic SAE rated oil meets the standard minimums and if you follow the manufacturers recommended oil change intervals they all work. However are some better or exceed SAE minimums, of course there are. How much better I don't know but I do prefer the peace of mind of using a good name brand synthetic, namely valvoline, even if it costs a little more. the reason for better than SAE or going synthetic is your trying for Paul Dobbins type mileage 600K or you want some wiggle room on oil change intervals , you know when you get in your wife's car look up at the sticker and realize she is 2500 miles past the 3K on the sticker

The variable valve timing and V8 V6 V4 capabilities of new V8 engines are pretty particular on oil specs. These engines been out a few years now.

Once a month is about 4000 miles. It now has over 712,000 miles on it. The engine still only uses a quart every 2000 miles. https://myautovaluestore.com/parts-master/conventional-motor-oil-pmp-5129

if you have a Napa near by Napa oil in the past was Valvoline , it may not be Valvoline any more but they tend to match the formula of name brand oil and be good oil , they have a reputation to maintain.
Napa gold filters are Wix filters they are good also. I have two cases of Napa synthetic setting here and it says formulated by Vavoline on the boxes.

That's crazy how many miles you got on the Tacoma.[/quote] This is the Tacoma. My Tundra only has around 238,000 miles on it, and it uses synthetic 0-20.

My buddy loves the great oil "debate", has to have the $12 per qt stuff. My Toyota gets changed every 10k with whatever and I mean absolutely whatever is the cheapest on sale stuff when I walk into Autozone. I now have 389k on it and running good as ever.
Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

So I got 5 qts of stp to add to motor for use oil, had some stuff want check an rotate tires I got shop an went there , didn't rotate tires, say don't need it, change oil an wish done myself , say minor oil leak valve cover $500 plus labor , 5 hrs, not gonna fix now, oil slop quite a bit , I never slop any when change an 38 for oil change, no idea how do such stupid stuff, with oil dispenser or forget put cap on like Walmart did years ago but I not happy, I see use degreaser clean up some, but does this new oil which not clean up entirely that got on pulley in places ruin new belt ? I sure hope had enough brains to put oil cap on before spray degreaser , would that ruin engine with overspray degreaser ? How bad could smell oil on hot motor in summer get on way nta convention a 265 mile trip ? Sure wish would change myself , must have haters, something like that must be intentionally done
