I always figure averages by what I take home. Nafa used to be 9% +$20 a year if you were a member, FHAis 11%, local fur auction is 3%, and selling outright to a furbuyer is 0%. Whatever gets me the most in my pocket is the best deal. Everybody has to make money to stay in business, the auctions you just see what they make, and they of course print your averages before commission because it looks better and there is a lot of people who seemingly can't do basic math. I've sold mostly at auction, because I have done better take home pay there, but I figure the market is whatever I get in my pocket. Most local furbuyers are middlemen and selling on, so if they pay me 10% less I figure I make 1% better than at FHA and they make some profit to stay in business. Of course I can't say what I would have gotten at FHA if I sell them local and don't send them on, so it is a guessing game, but if I get an offer and don't sell I always compare that to my take home from the auction, not to the price before commission.

124 Rats----$5.12 average----Total $634.85----minus 11% commission= $565.02
on April 17th, Groeny offered $466.25 with a $3.73 average for the same rats.
I guess it payed a little more to ship north with Toby Edwards to FHA this go around.

walleyed did they charge you to ship them. Just for curiosity sake. If so how much per rat? Not sure byrd. Some years they charge, some years not. Been a while since I shipped to FHA (2012) so I can't remember. w

Bob, I'd say next year's average will be better because you won't have all those early fall rats mixed in, but I am still not over it!!!

When you open your account walleyed you will see a separate area where shipping was =$ 12.00 we have a depo in Winnipeg so there is no shippers charge when we drop off. Can't find that on my account but I'll take your word for it as it sounds about right. Hey North, doesn't FHA also bang you $10.00 bucks for a magazine like NAFA did ? How do I opt out of getting boned for the magazine,,,,,ARRRRGGGHHHH !!!! BOHICA !!!!! w
