I retired 18 years ago. If I knew it was going to be so much fun I would've done it 3 yrs earlier. smile

One can get used to some really unhealthy behaviors when you feel you have answered all the bells you care to in life. I really enjoy being retired but I have found it takes a lot more thinking and thought then I had assumed to keep busy and also maintain physical, mental and emotional health as one enters into a new phase of life and we need to remember for many it will be 20 plus years and we will be working against the aging factor as we do.
The biggest concern I had about retiring while I was working and saving was having enough money to live how we wanted to and that has become a much lesser concern or worry than I had thought it would be. To me it shows that if one is good with money one can mange well even with limited amounts. There are other aspects of retired life where money does not come close to resolving the issues.

likewise, when one believes they can no longer make a difference in the workplace (due to leadership changes/mission creep); but is "forced" to ride it out for awhile...

I'm semi retired. Have only worked about 6 months out of the year since I turned 60. When spring comes I'm ready to go back to work. My work requires me to be mentally sharp and physically fit. I'm not ready to fully retire. Whatever you do enjoy it. We all have differing ideas of what it means to live life to the fullest. DIfferent strokes for different folks.
