I'm. a sucker for blue eyes! lol. Shannon, were all those pups from one litter? That would be a huge litter for a dog that size! Yes they were from my Grendel and Riggs

I lost my border collie this spring. 14 yrs and she was the sweetest most loyal dog I ever had. Not sure if I want to go through that again but I love dogs. We lost our mutt of 16 and a half years this spring also. It's tough, But the 16 years of memories are what make it worth it. We'll get a new puppy when my cur is gone. He's 11 and starting to show it a bit.

I think people should get a new dog every 6 to 8 years. That way your old dog can help train the new one. The inevitable loss of the old dog is easier to bear too. This way you usually will have a well loved old dog, that's no longer very functional, a dog in adult prime that handles well and a cute pup that's learning. Younger dogs often revitalize older dogs too. Keith

That's the way I've always done it as well. I had gotten down to two dogs so I recently had to search for another pup to bring in. It's kind of hard to find a decent dog these days. The price of purbreds are mostly out of my budget. Some shelters wanted 300.00 for mutts. No wonder they can't find homes for them. When I did find something online it was a four or five hour drive away. Finally found a Texas heeler / Australian Shepherd cross that wasn't too far away. Seems like a good natured pup but not overly bright. I got a feeling she was raised in the house because she gets hot following me around and goes back to the porch and howls to be let in.
Poor people have poor ways.
