I'm sure most of us don't prefer wearing ties but when you do what's your preferred knot?

Usually I go with a Windsor knot but today I'm trying a Rose Bud knot in preparationfor a wedding. Doesn't look bad, would look much better on a solid color tie. Just like a Windsor knot but a couple extra loops

I usually go with the windsor knot, too. But for weddings I like to go with the Vidalia knot. Usually takes a few tries to get it right.

I know just one, the pratt. Two if you count the bow tie.

Kinda double Windsor. Looks better on a solid color tie

The validala knot looks awesome too. I've never heard of it.

Windsor here

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

you know I can tie more than a dozen knots from memory and not one knot for a tie .

I own one tie , the guy at the store tied it , I just keep it on the hanger , hate wearing it

I find if you really have to wear a tie there is a funeral director there to tie it for you. that said , bury me in a flannel shirt and my suspenders

Back in the dark ages, when I wore a tie every day, it was always a Windsor. Make that a half dozen times in the last twenty years.

However:

With the recent mask mandates, I've gone back to the bandana I used to use while mowing. Now, its a Buckaroo (square) knot. It is extremely functional. It stays in place all day after pulling the "mask" up and down a couple dozen times a day.

I don't own a suit or a tie. I used to have to wear one every day when I worked at a grocery, back when I was 17. I have no idea what the knot was, but I could tie it well.

I saw an interesting write up on why Brits added the Tie to their military uniform one time , they taught how to use it as a tourniquet and a few other things

I bought a 3 pack of one hand usable tourniquets and they can keep the neck noose

now the yellow/gold silk scarf of the US Calvary uniform made more sense and I could get behind that

From a guy that grudgingly has to wear a tie, although not at frequently as the old days:

Don't do that knot.

Normal knot or no tie.
