Curious if something like ever happened to anyone else.

Had a guy at work ask about coon traps. I told him all we had where the new havaharts and honestly I wouldn't recommend them or the cheap tractor supply ones. He got a Lil huffy and asked " well what would you recommend " I tell him id reccomed some of the dukes or pride pipers the feed store sold .Told him they where a little higher priced but they're alot better made than the havaharts and it was better in the long run. He starts getting all uppity telling me how I just don't want to do my job and how I probably had no clue what I was talking about. Said mighty proudly he catches lots coon every year and asked me what I knew about trapping . I kinda just looked at the floor and said how i only average like 20 coon a season if that lots of possums and mabye a fox or two I spend more time building traps and what not so that probably part of it lol, I look up and his mouth is wide open and he says he didn't think people caught more than five or so a season ! Next thing you know he's asking for tips and bait and wanting to see pictures of my traps and catches . We talked for a little about coon traping and told him compared to alot of you guys I ain't jack (when I told him that some of y'all are catching 30-50 a check he about choked lol ). He finally shook my hand and side he was gonna go to the feed store and check out some of the sites and try some tips I gave him.

Not the first time this has happened but curious if anyone else had something this happen to them

I've been around a few. I usually just let them ramble, then they see my truck...

BTW, I sit and talk trapping and bees for hours at a time if someone honestly wants to learn or talk shop for those in the know. I've come to have very little patience for the stupid.

Y'all would love some of the survival experts that come in from time to time wanting to pay $50 for like 100' of 1/16 cable

People are funny, aren't they? I reckon though it would be a boring world if we were all the same.

maybe not quite like that

I was at the the hardware today getting a couple grill tanks filled.

I see a lady with a few boxes in her hands looking at them like the packaging was printed in greek

My best opener for a conversation yet with a Lady , "whacha tryin ta kill?"

her "Beetles , Japanese Beetles"

well my neighbor has that one in your hand and it works but it fills up kinda quick , I have one of these show her the larger size. it comes with a heavy duty twist tie type thing to hold it up , I told her you need something stronger between the wind and the half gallon of beetles it breaks that wire , I used some 40 pound fishing line and a swivel because it twists in the wind

explained you will probably fill that trap in a week but don't throw it out , you can dump those beetles in a bucket and drown them but you need a good size bucket or they float on each other or I had been going out after dark and dumping them in a brown paper grocery bag and roll it up then burn it with the card board right away. and that kills them all well also

I need to empty twice a week and am getting about a half gallon at a time

10 dollars sounds expensive for a trap but it should last you through the rest of summer , 10 dollars is expensive the hardware store the next town over has the same trap for 7 but by the time you drive there on 3.09 a gallon gas it's a wash

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Even worse are the ' Askholes ' they ask you every piece of advice then go with a cousins friend on the Internet who knows someone's neighbor and had xyz problem and fixed it with chewing gum and crazy glue.

The old timers used to say never approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear, or an idiot from any direction. Too bad you are trapped with those things while you are on the clock.

Sadly too many folks fail to realize they only seem like big fish because they've spent their entire lives in a tiny puddle. A lil time in the ocean and they soon realize what tiny minnows they are. A failure on the part of the society we live in that has far reaching consequences.
