You're 300x more likely to be bitten by someone in NY than by a shark

Bull sharks can thrive in both salt and fresh water and can travel far up rivers. They have been known to travel up the Mississippi River as far as Alton, Illinois, about 700 miles (1100 km) from the ocean. Pool 26 (Alton) river rat here, I've never heard of this in around 50 years of hunting/fishing it. SONYAMAGUN! I just Googled it and apparently it's true!

This does not qualify as a Fun Fact. More like a Pathetic Fact.

Lewis and Clark carried their gunpowder in lead canisters. The powder inside was measured to be enough to fire all the round ball that could be cast from the lead canister. Didnt they have some high tech (for the period) air guns that they preferred?

Didnt they have some high tech (for the period) air guns that they preferred? I know they carried at least one air rifle. Not sure if they preferred them or not. I have been under the impression it was more of a show piece than a working piece. One of my friends actually built a working replica of one of them.
