I've got a Bianchi shoulder holster that's coming apart. After only a few years' use, the adjustment strap keeps slipping through the slots in the main strap that are supposed to hold it. I suppose a rivet would hold it, but I'm now too annoyed by the holster to invest in fixing it. I thought I was buying quality.

I've about decided to go with a custom holster. Anyone know of custom maker who produces high-quality holsters?

No one knows of a good custom holster-maker? Or any shoulder holster that will hold up to normal use?

I'll bet that rivet is starting to sound pretty good about now.

Or, may I suggest?: A dab of hot glue.

All I know is that delivery of anything firearms related is roughly equivalent to my expected lifespan.

I got a shoulder rig from craftholsters.com. I've been really pleased with it.

I ended up making my own because nobody made one like I wanted for the pistol I had, and prices were outrageous enough I wasn't paying them for something that wasn't what I wanted. I'm sure a custom maker could have made what I wanted and prettier, but it would have cost an arm and a leg and I'm happy with the one I made. Real plain, nothing fancy, but it fits good, rides comfortably, and I KNOW it is made out of quality leather. After two years, other than being sweat stained it is holding up great so far.

What gun are you trying to fit Jim ?

I have a Bianchi That I have owned since the early 1960's with no issues.

Ken, my Bianchi is the X-15 model shown here: https://www.amazon.com/Bianchi-Plain-Shoulder-Holster-Right/dp/B003IXVQMC/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=bianchi+holster&qid=1627944658&refinements=p_89%3ABIANCHI%2Cp_36%3A1253558011&rnid=386589011&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-6

The adjustment strap of mine keeps slipping through the slots cut in the shoulder strap. The interweaving held okay at first, until the leather became softer with use. But I only carried a handgun in it about a dozen times before it got soft enough to slip.

The gun I'm trying to fit is a Sig Sauer X-5, five-inch barrel, stainless, in .40 S&W. The Bianchi offers a generic fit, so I could carry several different handguns. Most of the custom-makers use a custom fit, so you can only use the holster with a particular gun.

I've about decided to go with Diamond D. The lady who answered the phone is checking to see whether they can make one for an X-5.

That's the same one I have. I carry my High Standard Citation with 8 inch barrel. Trapline gun. I wonder if the materials are not the same quality in the newer ones?

I think it would be best to have one made that fits your gun if they will

Do you happen to know the name of the company that produces or owns Bianchi holster? I might see if I can send the holster back for repair.

But a search for "Bianchi" keeps turning up bicycles. Or holster retailers.

I had a Bianchi shoulder holster for a Colt Python. It was a fine holster. Gone downhill have they?

Midway's "holster finder" software couldn't find a shoulder holster for another handgun, an HK P30, .40. Hmm...

best reason to buy a Glock you never fight to find a holster again

I had some other guns Pre-Glock , every time I thought I found a holster , nope not offered in that gun

went holster shopping before gun shopping to see what I should be looking at

I never got along with a Glock. I don't like that second trigger or the fit in my hand. Too blocky.

I'm no expert. I had this guy in Montana make one for me and I really like it. What I like is that it is secured by a strap. If a bear is tossing you around, it might stay secured. To release it, you just give it a tap, and the strap releases. They built it within a few weeks and sent me updates on the status. Really well-run company.

Do you carry when out and about in Anchorage? I'm pretty sure there are custom makers here in Alaska. Call the smaller gun shops and see what they say. Tanana Valley Spotsmans association might know of some.
Laura Berkowitz here teaches the CCW class. Very nice, helpful lady. Google her name and you should find her personal phone #.
Good Luck!
With all the liberal caused problems in Anchorage I can certainly see the need to carry there.

I'll probably never own a Glock, but I recommend them to other people, they are extremely reliable. To me they just feel like holding on to a 2x2, don't like the fit and feel at all.

Which Glock are you referring to? My 43x is identical in shape and feel to my wife's shield

While I don't know about shoulder holsters, I've bought three chest holsters from Diamond D Custom Leather in Wasilla. The quality is unsurpassed but they are a little pricey. Figure on paying around $180.00. They have many holsters in stock that they have produced themselves, but if they don't have what you want on hand they will make a holster specifically for your handgun. I would not hesitate to buy another holster from Diamond D. Look them up on You Tube.

El Paso Saddelry, R. Grizzle Leather, are great. Sam Andrews makes top notch holsters. Be prepared to wait….

Does anyone know who made the holster that the young mountain lion/hound guy on "Mountain Men" uses? Not hijacking the thread as I am watching this topic closely.

Any I've had ahold of. Not sure that I've had ahold of a 43x, I'm not much of a fan of the Shield either, it has that Glock feel to it, although if asked I would have said it was better than any Glock I had my hands on. Most Glocks I have handled have been full size, and while I've shot 9mms the majority have been 45 or 40, which exacerbates the issue.

I ordered a chest holster from Diamond D.

I also need a shoulder holster for a HK P30 in .40 S&W.

I like the vertical shoulder holster--the style of the X-15 that failed. DD doesn't make one. SJA offered good advice here. The Galco Miami Classic seems to be about as good as it gets for a stock, non-custom holster. Unfortunately, they don't make one for my handgun.

The Glocks feel blocky to me too. Can't say I like the 911 grips either. Too narrow side to side. I tend to prefer double-stack grips like the Sig or HK.

Jim
