That's strange. Must only be the case in humans. We've had a lot of cows for a lot of years and the cows always stayed one gender. I've also never had a cow breed any other cows after milking for many years.

That's how I understand it, too. One woman (originally) in my class took a semester off, and returned to say that they had realized they (now the preferred pronoun) are non-binary. And they changed their name to Wren.
