In NE the local post office asks 10-12 questions when I mail a package. Check address to make sure it's right, do you want insurance, anything explosive or harmful, etc. Last week I mailed a package in FLA and the Indian gal with a jewel embedded in her forehead asked no questions at all. Just took my money and that was it. It does say the package was delivered. Do you get asked questions when you mail a box?

They usually ask if anything is hazardous. When I am mailing traps I say not to humans but might be to critters.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Half the questions they ask yu are just an attempt to up-sell you. They probably either get a commission on those sales or are afraid of getting fired if they don't ask you.

They're supposed to. We got a new post office gal this year and she doesn't ask anything though.

I always felt the USPO attitude seemed like I was bothering them when I went there, results very but it seemed to take extra effort to get in and out of there.

I mailed a frozen black coyote this past winter 3 day Priority mail on Monday. The lady asked if it was perishable. I thought not if they do what they are supposed to. She said it should get there on Friday. I wasn't sure how that was three days, but no worries it was cold outside and the coyote was frozen. It sat in Montgomery for ten days and arrived in Kentucky four days later. Yep you pay for a service and when you don’t get that service it’s just tough luck then, file a claim and it’s a big run around they will spend $100 to keep from paying out $50.

I live where three towns come together and each have a Post Office. The building in my city is actually the farthest away, and the least friendly. One town has a fellow manager who is about the most pleasant employee you will ever meet. Great guy. All are different.

My guys are good, and very helpful, Only questions they ever ask is it hazardous, and do I want insurance... Same here, until we got the new postmistress a few years ago, I used to be able to leave small packages in the mail box with cash for postage and the mail lady would leave my change (one time I misweighed or miscalculated and didn't leave enough and she paid herself and just left a note of what I owed her) in the box the next day. Now we have to go to the post office, but still the gals that work there are helpful and knowledgeable, unlike most government employees. UPS is also great, same delivery guy all the time who is helpful, knowledgeable, and has common sense. FedEx on the other hand. . . lets just say I cringe whenever I order something and the company is going to send it FedEx.

I'm good friends with my local PM. He asks the questions and I answer yep or probably to all of them. Tells me what I can do with myself and we send the package.

I print my postage at home so I just lay it on the counter and go.

USPS here......helpful - sometimes, knowledgeable - rarely if the question is more complex than the price of a first class stamp. Different people there about every time I go there even though it is a small rural PO.
Any package requires input from the shipper on the e-pad to the questions about hazardous, perishable, etc.
Heaven help you if you have an issue with damage or loss.
