Black bears are one of the most if not the most dangerous bears. Prayers for the tree planters family.
Chris
Why would you say that?

Very sad indeed. I know nothing about any bears, but I have the impression that grizzlies are more aggressive than blacks. Maybe not. A fella I know went to Canada to bowhunt black bear over bait. A male came along and scared two cubs up the same tree the hunter was sitting in. He tried to scare the cubs away from him but they came anyway. He did get the attention of the Mama, who came up the tree too to protect her cubs. The hunter fought her off with his bow as a club while the cubs above him were peeing on him. Eventually they all went away but he was pretty excited.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

When a black bear presses in it;'s most likely predatory. He sees you as lunch.
When a brown bear comes at you it's likely PO'ed and wants to beat you up. A mauling.
So in a contact situation most typically a brown bear is trying to neutralize a perceived threat whereas a black bear wants to eat you.
you can vote your way into socialism, but you will have to shoot your way out.

Just loading up the boat now for the cabin. Shotgun and slugs aboard. Never leave home without it.
One shot last evening amongst the houses here. People always scared about their kids. Happens every summer and only one cure. Relocation expensive and does not work a lot of the time + can give the bear more time to grab someone if it does not go to trap cage or foot snare right away. No shortage of bears to worry about.
Dirty people could change their habits a bit though to cut down on it in the first place.

So in a contact situation most typically a brown bear is trying to neutralize a perceived threat whereas a black bear wants to eat you. This is true, but I'll state that black bears do bluff charge and try and scare stuff off. And it doesn't mean black bears are more "dangerous", on a percentage basis (obviously there are way more black bears than brown/grizzlies) a grizzly is way more likely to attack. But if a black bear attacks you, the oft repeated advice to "play dead" is useless, if it thinks you are dead it isn't going to go away, it is going to sit down to lunch.

According to Stephen Herrereo, most black bear predatory attacks wind up with the bear de fleshing your arms and legs while you are still alive. One case he wrote about a woman working in the bush was saved after being able to contact her helecopter pilot to pick her up as the bear was stalking her.when the chopper arrived she had already been attacked but was saved in the hospital.Unfortunately she lost both her arms as they had been de fleshed by the hungry bear.

by that web site list 2010-2019 18 brown 11 black 2000-2009 12 brown 16 black 1990-1999 15 brown 10 black 1980-1989 10 brown 7 black 1970-1979 9 brown 7 black 1960-1969 3 brown 6 black 1950-1959 4 brown 5 black some of those in the 50s and 60s were captive bears after 1969 all were wild is it growing in intensity or are their more people or are their more less prepared people or greater population of bears some of all I figure my question is do you hunt black bears with Dogs in Canada and Alaska? where bears are annually hunted with dogs there seems to be a significantly lower human bear encounter attack rate. my theory is bears run with dogs regular learn to avoid humans more.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

My guess is the browns in the national parks that are taken as Walt Disney bears could make up the difference in numbers right there alone. More stupid people with more money with more ability to travel to the parks.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Up until last summer, Jellystone park was getting 5.5 million visitors per summer. That's a lot of parade candy for grizzlies.
