My brother has a problem with porcupine at his cabin in northern Wisconsin. What is a good bait or lure (besides house siding or OSB) to put in a cage trap ? Thanks.

Your best pair of leather boots I found seems to work the best for me.

They like urine. Squirt a bunch of urine on some wool or something and stick it in the back of the cage. They’re attracted to the salt

We always put a salt block on a old stump around our deer camp, at night you would hear then grinding away on it. If we were not there it kept them busy and out of trouble working that stump over.

Old timers used to complain about them chewing on any leather items left outside. Horse harnesses would be chewed into pieces, same with boots left out on the porch over night. Salt from sweat would attract them.

The old outhouse at camp would get a chewing around the lip of the hole by squirrels for the salt also.
