Did anyone else find themselves starting a slow clap for the deer?? That was awesome
I sure was! lol That was awesome. I was calling up in Wy one time years ago, and a pair of mule deer does were threatening me. I was thinking I was gonna have to shoot one to defend myself for a little bit!
YOU CAN IGNORE REALITY, BUT YOU CANNOT IGNORE THE CONSEQUENCES OF IGNORING REALITY.
I have been surrounded by angry mule deer does while bleating out distress calls with my Circe hand call. I'll be thinking about this video next time that happens!
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

The deer is very clearly not defending the rabbit from the hawk. Whitetail deer frequently eat rabbits and come to a rabbit in distress call looking for dinner. When a rabbit calls for a long time, experienced predators know that a weak predator has the rabbit. Strong and efficient predators kill prey fast. After the rabbit ran off, the hawk clearly became dinner. That is why you saw the deer charge the other deer. It was guarding it's food.
Deer eat lots of easy to kill prey and carrion too. There's a video online of deer eating human remains at a research site.
Elk eat rabbits too.
I have watched a deer eat fox squirrels.

That video went viral a few months ago but seems someone started it up again. This is the 2nd forum I have seen it posted on today.
That rabbit squalling sounded like a fawn in distress and that doe did what doe deer do to protect their own. That is my opinion anyway. Your mileage may vary.
