Look over the outside carefully. After time, especially out in the weather, they will get cracks in the outer coat or the layers will start to separate - usually in localized areas. If the outer surface is in good shape, they go for $200-$400 around here.

Thanks, wish there was more available used down here but I am not in a big canoe/kayak area. Being 5-5.5 hours south of Chicago, it would have to be a super deal to make a trip.

I've got a 13' Old Town Pack canoe that's made from the same material that your potential canoe is made of. It's called Royalex, which I h is no longer used in Old Town canoes.
I has a 30' pine come down and completely smash the middle of the canoe... Broke the coward thwart, and luckily missed the seat. It was crushed big time! I set it out in the sun and within 3 hours, it returned to its original shape.... NO WRINKLES OR CREASES were visible.
If the front or rear leading edge has the Royalex worn off from someone dragging it, Old Town makes a kit that you can apply a Kevlar strip over each end.
Great canoe and indestructible! It's quiet too. Don't be afraid to pay a little extra, as these Royalex models are not made and the ones they make now are $$$$.00

Mad River made a beautiful dark olive green/grown model, with oiled ash gunnels. Great canoe, but high end.

Looks like a rental. Not much you can do to a Royalex hull. Check for holes, wood thwarts for rot and if loose. Those are spendy boats and they hold value pretty good. Take money.

I have a Mad River 16-foot Explorer with ash gunnels. Bought it in 1982. The factory that produced Royalex is out of business, and these boats will probably go up in value, as the new hull materials aren't much. If that's an ash rail, you can sand it and put new finish on it that you should be able to get from Old Town.
I think the photo shows two possibilities regarding the hull. It may be just dirt, or someone painted it at some point. Paint doesn't last long on Royalex, in my experience.
I put a hole in the bow of my Explorer while trying to run the Eagle River campground rapids, Class III water, just north of Anchorage. Mad River sent me a putty material to fill the hole, which I sanded and painted. Pulling in to sandy beaches soon eliminated the paint.

did it sell ?
given the cracking and such free might be to much
sand , epoxy on the crack and painting with a primer and paint and new wood thwarts you could probably make it float but when there are canoes available for 300-400

It was covered in algae and dirt. Looked like it spent its life upside down on a pond bank and rarely was used. I lost interest as soon as I saw the condition. And turned my interest towards a pre Murray Troy bilt Pony, it went for 280. Couldnt see it run because the pull start was broke so I let it go too. Didnt want another project right now.

I don't do to well at auctions unless it is on things other people don't want like one wheel wheel barrows , hand saws or short handle shovels
