Anyone else notice the shifting shadows and light levels like I do? I don't know how exactly it registers but one day it just hits me the shadows are a little bit longer and the light a touch lower as fall approaches.

And in other news I glance over and grandboy is holding a set 280 he just pulled out of a channel set. Good thing I set dog down. I swear that boy will be the death of me. I guess he gets some 110s for Christmas.

Yep. Every day it’s a little darker when I leave for work. Been seeing 5-10 coyotes every day while cutting hay and it’s making me crazy for season to hurry up and get here.

Yep, soon it will be football season.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

So dry here that some of the trees are beginning to turn already. Coyotes have been yapp'n up a storm the past few weeks reminding me of how many I missed last year and hope to remedy that this season. Ground is harder than chinese algebra so it could be a real challenge to get a trap or two into the ground. Might have to step it up and get me an industrial drill just to get a hole punched.

Sugar Maples in the central Adirondacks have all turned color.. Humming birds will depart in a few weeks, extremely active now. I love those frosty mornings and the smell of the forest in the fall.

Law Dog, just thinking of that the other day. A smell reminiscent of going hunting every weekend with my dad until I left home. Most people would think we are weird. I grew up in eastern Montana and that smell brings back a lot of fond memories.

I don't know if it's the light I notice, but I certainly feel fall coming, even when it's 100 degrees like it is now. There are red and yellow leaves on the ground in the woods already. I heard a flock of geese fly over a few mornings ago. Right now the squirrels are eating callery pears, but in a week or two they'll be in the hickories. Maybe it is the light... I always just thought of it as a feeling.
