I know it’s better left alone but I can help but think of what could be.

Why would it be better if left alone? A good cleaning and fresh paint would make it better in my mind.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

This reminds of a phrase my first boss used to say...." I can fix anything with enough money"

If it could only talk.

Love seeing those old boats. I remember an old plank boat sitting along rt1 years ago that looked cool.

That style of boat might be a Deltaville Deadrise. Popular in Chesapeake Bay many years ago.

It sure is living up to its name. Looks like it is missing a window on the port side.

It would be great to hear the history behind the boat.

Looks like a FG deadrise copy, most likely used for crabbing, If it was any good someone would already have bought it, lol
But, it looks good from a distance....

My cousin had one you could have for free a pondnet boat in his front yard for a few years it is gone now.

it had been used in commercial fishing on lake Michigan then the ship yard used it as a crew boat for a while to take men and parts out to ships parked in the bay to do work and not tie up dock space

oddly the place best equipted to fix it let it get into the worst shape , they only needed one of the two engines to start on any given day and if it failed the tug was a radio call away so it really only needed to float the did as little as they could to get their use from it

he got it for free and realized it was more work and money than he wanted to put into it

he has had 3 fish tugs now , with Greatlakes fishing reduced so much it was often cheaper to buy a new used boat than rebuild the engine on the one he had

he knows a family that had bought up lots of boats and quotas , they only needed the quotas and kept boats for parts and such so he bought boats when it wasn't worth the repair

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Put you a jet drive inboard in it and you can run around like that nut Shelby on one of those reality shows. Swamp loggers maybe?

There is a reason it is sitting and not being used

Rebuild motor, if it has one, rebuild stern drive, recaulk windows, grind hull, bottom paint, topside paint, new bilge pumps, replace electronics, maybe the helm and controls, buy a big three axle trailer to get into the water, pay slip fees, no thanks, been there done that. Heck, I’m still doing that.

It could be.......
that you could send all 14 children to ivy league schools.
that your wife will say yes to you having a girlfriend.
that you will win the lottery and get a tax free exemption.

There are many more examples of fairytales that "could be".

“Project Boat “. Pros: Can rebuild it to fit your needs. You become intimate with every square inch so when a problem comes up you know exactly where to go. Cons: Time. Lots of it. And $$. Lots of it. Then unless it’s just a toy you need to make money with it which means you will need permits, gear, etc. She has nice lines tho and it’s always fun to dream

I know it's temping, but I'd suggest leaving it right there.
About the only thing I've even purchased and lost money on was a 90 year old 65 foot halibut schooner. I couldn't "help but think of what it could be". I should have been content to just pass it by and think of what it was back in it's glory days.

I bet you’re right re glass over plywood. Probably a ton of delamination. Love the old schooners but they need constant upkeep. Not many left. Heard the Eclipse has resorted to fishing slime eels
