Spent this weekend getting started on cutting a 21 acre sunflower field we plan on hunting in two weeks for dove season. It’s slow work, it’ll probably take me another two afternoons to finish it up. The doves are already piling in!

You should have a great hunt.

For by grace are you saved by faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Lotta expense and work unless you're doing it commercial gunning.

Not too bad when you split it with 10 other guys. Me and my friends do it every year and we bring our families out to the field. We usually have a big fish fry for lunch and make it a community event. Of course we love to have a good dove shoot, but if the first one didn’t fly we would still have a good time

You better have a fish fry (SMART CHOICE) as morning dove is one of the toughest meats to chew. The old timers used it in soup with vegetables and noodles and laughed at anyone using a grill for them!! ........ the mike

I love eating them, I think they're great! If you are patient the best way to cook them is to pluck them and fry whole. If you have a bunch that isn't really feasible but man they are good that way

I pluck, split them open, marinade in Italian Dressing sauce a few hrs, pack the cavity with Stove Top Stuffing, and wrap 'em in bacon and on the grill they go. :-)

Wrap breasts with a slice of bacon and grill.....if I cut meat off of breast I'll put cream cheese inside meat an also wrap with bacon. Dove poppers

Those both sound great! If I have over 100 to do I will cook them like Flint Hill, but if I only have 15 or 20 I will pluck them and cook whole!

My grandma would make me and grandpa pluck them,

She would split them in half and brown them in a iron skillet,

make a roux and then slowly cook till done..

Split doves w rice and gravy is to die for !

Continuing to prep...this is the 5th box of shells I've loaded for dove season. That should be enough to get me through. All are 1 oz of 7.5's in a 28 ga platform. It's a heck of a load. Not far off from the payload most shoot in their 12 gauges, but with a lot less kick and a lot lighter gun!
