Some guy wants to be the first person to Paddleboard across Lake Ontario, from Rochester to Toronto.

The catch ????

It will take him, he says, three days to cross the Lake. AND he has some weird neurological Disease that affects his ability to stand and balance himself.

I can see some boat following him along for the whole trip, in case he falls !! crazy

he should wear a wet suit , a pfd and a beacon and yes he should pay for the chase boat and should probably have a support team on the boat possibly even taking turns paddling along side him

other than that , he should do it

if he has a weird neurological disease and hasn't already had kids , which keeps you from a Darwin award he is probably not planning to have kids now.

I have an uncle who ran hundred mile races , yes ran it took an entire weekend he stopped for naps of about an 40 minutes when there was good grass to lay in often in front of a cemetery along the route, my aunt was his support rider , rides behind him on a bike with food and water and deals with the police when they show up for a man sleeping on the side of the road so he can keep sleeping.

she is a nurse

we find out what is possible by trying it

also the boat would probably be infront of him for navigation , on auto pilot with a little kicker keeping his pace and straightest course

16 hours in you just get stupid and follow , no thinking about navigation just follow

Will he take breaks, rest and eat on the boat or stay in the water the whole time?

If he has a plan and a support system he should be OK and probably not doing it for the fame either.
There are bike groups that do the Adirondacks, Yellowstone etc. etc. They have supply and support vehicles etc. etc. A college grad friend of mine who is retired has done 4-5 of these 5-10 day trips.

Sounds like an interesting experience. I wouldn't say that he is going for a Darwin award. Just my 2 cents.
