Had both done. June 30 & July 1. It's like taking off dark sun glasses. 20/20 & 20/25. Jim is right. The shot to numb your eye is unpleasant and May numb the entire side of your face and lead to amusement of others if you try to drink a glass of water.

Both eyes done and It's great only need glasses for close up work. The person that gave you that shot In the eye must have been a hack. I never knew he did It.

A lot of you said you only need glasses for close up work, with the surgery did your close up eyesight improve at all?

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Absolutely! I had been wearing bifocals for years mainly due to my arms being too short. My distance vision was tweaked a little with the glasses but not a lot. Never restricted to glasses for driving. And I fully expected to still need glasses full time for close up correction but I am only using readers occasionally for fine print or low light for the most part. The following is from the thread linked in my earlier post.

Quote
I could see a big difference after the 1st eye but the 2nd eye, the difference was huge. Within 48 hours after surgery, I was able to use the computer and even read the screen on my phone without glasses. The improvement was much better than I expected and I am looking forward to the one week follow up in a couple of days.

I am a little over a year out now and have not used glasses other than readers occasionally since my surgeries.

I wish you guys who have had it done would tell us what lenses (IOL) you had put in. It makes a tremendous difference whether it is monofocal, multifocal, extended depth of focus, or accomodating. Monofocal is the least expensive and the only one that insurance will typically cover the entire cost for. Multifocal will make you almost or completely independent of glasses, but is not a good choice for anyone with AMD. Extended depth of focus lenses are fairly new and very popular. The only accomodating lens (IOL) currently FDA approved is the B&L Crystalens, and they are terrific while they work but scarring of the capsular sac of the eye results in a limited time that they work as intended.

Fixed me up. Unbelievable results.
Was like seeing in a fog to seeing on clear day with perfect vision.

I still need glasses to read.

Had it done on both eyes. Two years later a YAG laser cleared some blur. I am 74. I have 20/20 with no correction. I got an expensive lens, forget the name now.

Monofocal lens, both eyes for me, was the choice I made after discussing the options with my regular eye doc. Was not expecting improvement for close up/reading but I darn sure got it!
