MN DNR " No no that's a house cat. We don't have cougars here!"

Looks like one to me.

I think your "long tail" is the hind leg.

Bobcat , you can see the Bob tail In the pic. However
There is probably a cougar or two that roam through the
Areas

I looked again a little closer, I agree bobcat. But wouldn't be surprised to get a picture of a bigger cat.

I agree that it is a bobcat. At first I thought it was a big kitty but closer look at the tail tells me it's a big ol tom. Still going after him this fall! A ranger from a local state park confirmed they have a big kitty on one of their trail cams and figure it's a female but no signs of any kittens this season. But you can bet they will be watching for them next year!

‘Bout 17-18 years ago I saw a big cat between Perham and New York Mills. South side of HWY 10 middle of July, middle of a sunny day, cat was walking across a hay field. Somebody at MN DNR in Ferguson Falls told me I didn’t see it. No one will ever convince me I didn’t see a Mt. lion that day.

GUK.....it's the sound they make when they hit the end of the cable

I was shocked to see a big kitty last weekend on one of cameras as well. Gonna be some stressful walks in and out of the woods in the dark bowhunting a week from now. I had a friend have to kill one in self defense and the story he told still gives me the shivers

This picture makes it super easy to see how many bobcats get misidentified as cougars every year!
