It sounds like it would work great. But: - Can they handle large (several quart) batches
- Can they be programmed for two, three, several days?
- Assuming model/brand differences; what is a good one?
I always have honey that needs to be decrystallized, but, right now, I stumbled upon about a huge stash of Jewel Weed that I would like to put up as a salve. As long as I'm at it I also have plantain, willow, and prickley ash that could be done at the same time.

Thank you, SNIPERB. That was enough to wake me up.
I had seen some for less than $100, and figured it was just the ticket. As I look at them, I find that for the size I need, they more sophisticated, and expensive than what I can justify.
Now I think I can use a livestock immersion heater, possibly one I already have on hand. Even if I have to buy one, we're looking at about $50.
If I need to circulate the water a bit, I might get by with an aquarium pump.
Heck, I might just toss a brisket in, just for fun.

I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

If you can find a use for prickly ash, let me know. My woods are over run with the stuff. Medicine! I infuse the inner bark in alcohol for a tincture; and in olive oil, and add beeswax for a salve. The bark by itself is used for toothache; the salve and tincture is for circulation. A couple pounds is one heck of a lot. You ain't ever going to use up your woods. As a side note: I always loved the lemony smell of the stuff when I was clearing it. I figured it might make a good smoking wood for meat....NOPE, not unless you want your mouth to go numb.

Decrystalize honey in the oven. Just keep it below 130F. My 5 gallon pails fit right in....and at that low of a temp, you're not using much energy, really. My oven won't operate below 160 °F. And while I don't believe it makes much difference... I've, read/been told to keep the honey below 120 °F to keep from degrading it.

My last electric oven was nearly infinitely adjustable, and did work well. I, in fact, still have an electric turkey roaster that I do use for the honey. The problem is that I just need (ok, want) to be able to handle more at a time. Since the harvest season is short, I'd like to handle the herbs while still fresh. Otherwise, I add a drying process, that I would prefer to skip.
