For Coons do you prefer H stands, KB or Stakelizers
I prefer KB for 220 I prefer H Stands for 160 because they are higher

H-stands are nice but mostly I "used" (not trapping $2.00 coon) two pieces of 18", 3/8" smooth rod.

All of my 160s and 220s look like this for blind trail set coon. Blue valley stabilizers, cabled to trap as one unit. Wrap em up and stuff a few in a bucket along with tongs for quick setting. Flat tan and swipes of dark brown spray paint to camo. For 160s just don't push the stabilizer into ground as far so it sticks up a bit. They make one size for 160s and another for 220s. Jim

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I avoid trail sets with 220s for a couple reasons. More squirrels, rabbits, possum and other unmentionable animals are caught. Also when this happens we have to deal with antis trying to get rid of conibears.

H- stands. Quick and simple. Until you've got to hammer them into frozen ground, ever seen what happens to a H-stand after you've hammered it into frozen ground? So much info is regional, LLtrapper stays away from trail sets because of non-target catches. That's not a problem I deal with where I'm at, my non-targets are skunks and that ain't many as long as i stay away from trails going through dry culverts.. besides I make money on skunks.

I don't want the Skunks. I'm fine with everything else.
It won't freeze here. By the time I might my stuff will already be in the ground.

Until you've got to hammer them into frozen ground, ever seen what happens to a H-stand after you've hammered it into frozen ground? Properly built H stands are straight on the sides so you can pound them in frozen ground. See Goldie's post in the archives.

Pound in h stands in frozen ground ? It would bend them all up, I can't see them go in rock hard ground , get them out ya, maybe not easy but probly get most out froze ground , I .like the h in non froze ground an later use stakelizee on late coon, don't set lot connibears on land an take care when do but short heavy good coon trails in heavy cover, 3 years ago in less 2 weeks in Jan a thaw with little snow left, I got close 70 coon alone in 220 s in less 2 weeks with maybe 25 traps set at most

I can hammer mine in, very stout rod and heavy top plate.
