My granddaughter and I completed the second day of Pennsylvania’s seven hour Hunter Trapper Education Class today. Since I was there with her the entire time I decided to take the test again. This is my fifth class including the original I took and passed in 1969. On the first day of the class I bet her a dollar I could score higher on the test than her. She said, “Make it two dollars.” She did well, only missed three questions. But, unfortunately for her piggy bank, I got a perfect score.

If you get the .410 answer right here they are impressed, well that was a long time ago at least.

If you get the .410 answer right here they are impressed, well that was a long time ago at least. There was a whole section devoted to rifle and shotgun data stamps and matching that data with rifle/pistol headstamps and shotshell markings but nothing specific on .410's. They went over gauges and explained how the are determined by the bore diameter and how many lead balls of that diameter in one pound of lead. All in all a pretty good and informative class although they didn't cover trapping as thoroughly as I thought the should have. Luckily for my granddaughter her grandfather knows a few things about trapping Still no live fire like when we took ours, probably won't be anymore.

Love it think iv done the course 6 times now 82 the first time then with 4 kids and my current wife. I generally am the first done with the test and no questions wrong. Here on the first day they tell you if your in class you will participate and test , its always a good refresher and I know the kids do look to us when doing practice and firearms handling. It's been about fifteen years since my last one with my youngest of three daughters. The class has changed, improved a bit in my opinion. Even this old fart learned a few things. Even if it's only that there is a second, more extensive index in the back of the digest issued with your license. I thought the one in front was the only one.

Glad she did well congratulations to her. The thing they did was to explain how gauge is figured then on the test the answer was .410 being the actual diameter of the bore it was their trick question it seemed like.

Congrats, keeping it in the family. Should have paid her anyway, you had 5 chances, you didn't say how you did on the previous four, just passed. LOL

All of my little girls have gotten their hunters Ed cert. and been in the field trapping with me, whether they wanted to, or not. Give them everything you can, the rest will play out.
