Anyone have measurable experience making it or using it? I rotted down beaver meat to essentially a liquid and surprisingly enough had great success with it in dirt holes. I’m curious to know if the commercial liquid baits that are available are much more than rotted down meat with SB and anti-freeze?

I would think and hope there would be a little more to the formulation than just rotten down meat

You and I both. Like I said, I don’t have any measurable experience with it and the experience I do have was by accident lol I just wonder if the multi ingredient formulation of commercial liquid baits has an equal or corresponding benefit to the increase of ingredients. I think from an anecdotal perspective one could say it does yet end of year results may say something different.

Here's my 2 cents. My experience testing bases has taught me that the best bases can be greatly improved with your secondary ingredients if your using the right ones. In fact ive seen some bases that really don't compare very well to other bases as far as attraction being made into decent bait because of the secondary additions alone.

I have messed around looking for a GOOD liquid bait for a long time. anybody who has ever trapped around packrats or other rodents knows what a pain they are when they haul off or eat bait or lure sticks. if you want to catch predators places with high rodent numbers have coyotes and cats. I have never created one that when squirted in a hole was a good one. Anybody have anything to share on the subject I am all ears.

In my few years of testing I've come across two liquids that I would consider top shelf ingredients and a third that is close but seems slightly inconsistent. When I say top shelf I mean create a strong reaction by themselves at a set. Two of those might create a food intrest but I doubt a coyote would eat more than a lick or two of them. I truly would consider all three to work more as a curiosity reaction. Danny I dont remember exactly your bait formulation but if I recall correctly if your left out the bobcat meat it would be pretty much a liquid. With that in mind I've tested cat meat about a dozen times different ways and just can't get much of a reaction to it by itself (with the exception that it might provide a little reach with its sharper odor when tainted) , therefore I would predict that your bait minus the meat would provide you similar results . But testing would be only way to know for sure. Several other good ingredients can be ground or tinctured and used in smaller quantities so that they would still work in a liquid base.

Ok as I thought about I can think of 4 liquids that create above par reactions by themselves.

A fine ground bait would be harder to haul off compared to a chunk bait.

I've had some good responses to deer liver that was aged 4 years underground. I poured off the liquid and keep it frozen until needed. I can't describe the odor but it's not unpleasant. I have another batch that will be 5 years old if I dig it up this year.

liquid lures will get into the dirt or soil and can many times keep the animals coming back. It was this known fact that got me to produce 15 plus years ago a couple of my deer scents that are added to dug-up soil, or rotten stumps. that process also lead me into using powder in the soil or rotten log or stump for deer and that lead me to powder using the same way for coon and grey fox.

I have only used liquid baits for years. The only way to go.
