You are right! It seems like it is always at night. My son and his wife left BatonRouge , and it took them over 5 hours to drive 21/2, to get over here. I’ll be up worried about y’all! I will be praying for you and your family and community!! May God Bless y’all ! As you know, the east side of any hurricane is bad, but a cat 4. Is , well, it just takes everything! Here is a few pictures of what it can do! Most of everything is gone! The high lines that made it had grass on it , the surge was 15 feet. If it’s not to late. I would reconsider staying!!

The storm chasers have decided to get out of Larose saying it is not survivable and the storm is still getting stronger. This is not going to end well.

Man.....this brings back bad memories....I know just what they are in for.

I cant imagine ever living in those storm states and not building the most solid foundational house possible.

The old Conch houses come to mind. They are fairly frequent to this day all along the FLA coast and in the Keys. Solid rebar and several feet thick of concrete fortresses. Small dinky windows and only two, sometimes just one. They could sometimes lose their roofs but the house would stand. All of them have withstood the worst on record storms and are there to this day.

Scary stuff, lived in the typhoon alley of the Pacific long time ago. Was not fun and typhoons seemed to be less strong, I am not sure about that but they certainly were scary. Good luck to all and keep us in touch.....jk

No rain here yet , gusts are getting heavier and heavier and lost power bout a hour ago. The eyes is supposed to pass over or pretty close to me, she's down to a cat three though thank the good Lord. Buddy down I Houma posted pictures and videos it's bad but everyone was better prepared compare to Katrina. Cajun Navy is already out working I think.

Small consolation, but I know PSO and GRDA are mobilizing to help restore power. Been a lot of bucket and pole trucks heading South the last few days. A friend of my oldest boy got the call the other day.
