Buzzard, your home town of Vicksburg was known for not celebrating the 4th of July for a long time as that's when the city surrendered.
Us southerners have long memories and hold grudges. Very true, the cemetery remains in my mind, to go back home is like a time warp nothing will ever change there. I loved being a river rat in my youth, the black folk always had my back and I had there's. It's a evil town once you get past the arch on highway 80, if the clan don't get you the nuggets will Really sad !

Hw was as well as most of the God fearing rural folk What happened, things have changed so much After the civil war a republican was a (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) of the state, They didn't care about the war torn shoulder, just the railroad and big money What happened ?? Going through Vicksburg was one of the first things we ever did in MS, before we even moved here. It was daylight, and even then it was a dang eerie feeling.
Even MS is changing. Changed the flag last year.

That doesn’t answer the question. At the time freeing slaves was an overreach of “big government”. There wasn’t actually a big government. That the parties switched is just more hocus locus from the left.
