It's not as bad as it could possibly be because you're all three alive. Thank God for that! I've seen electric company trucks heading down I-55 your way and have seen many people online saying that they're heading that way to help, so hopefully you should have help before long. One thing about you southern people is you all pitch in to help each other rebuild even when you don't have help from outside. I'm so sorry for all your losses and those of everyone else in your community but you've made it through the worst of it and things can only start to get better from here.

Yes repairs or rebuilding is tough but it's a rebirth of sorts there's a light at the end of the tunnel !

Bud my heart goes out to you and everyone there. I well know what you have to deal with.
I am so relieved you and yours made it through. It is so hard to gauge whether to stay or leave when these storms approach. Depends on the proximity to tidal surge and flooding, elevation, and protection of surroundings. Even then it can be a gamble . Who can guess who's roof will tear off and be blown into a house...very difficult decision.
Is there any way you can pack some things and leave to stay somewhere , take a break and let the line crews and county begin to clear the area for a few days ? You could surely use the rest and have some comforts like power, food, showers, etc. If you can that would charge your batteries to go back to work in renewed mental energy.

Not many among us have been through anything remotely as terrifying as what it sounds like you just went through. Glad to hear that physically you guys are OK. I am always in awe of the destructive forces mother nature offers up when she feels like it.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!
