Awesome stuff Bernie The bear were moving great on the opener. Hope for dry/warm weather from here on out. As to to the question about not gutting the bear on the bait, I don't like to either, brings in the vultures and sometimes wolves which can shut down a bait fast!
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo
You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.
I don't gut them for many reasons. Definitely do not want to gut them near the bait for sure. No need to gut them at all. We skin them, then take off the hindquarters, shoulders, loins and any other meat the hunter wants, then throw the remainder in the dumpster. We never have to open the guts.

I thought it was so that the bear is heavier when weighed. What about the stomach fat, heart, and spleen? All good eating. The best according to some.

I've never known anyone to eat any of those parts of a bear. Maybe we're all missing out.
