Thanks everyone.

It's been a roller coaster of a day. Just snapped they even took my vacuum. Everything they took has been acquired in the last 13 months.

Last year they hit my storage unit twice getting me for over 15k in stuff including all my tools. Nearly everything had been replaced since I moved here 8 months ago.

I still haven't made an inventory yet but I know the value of goods taken so far is over $3k but having no harm and not being with PD being interrogated is priceless

Get a grumpy German Shepard and put his food bowl next to the door you want him to guard.
Nobody gets his food.

I want a mastiff again.
There's only 2 responses when people see a mastiff. Either they love it or need to change their shorts

Not good. Thief Will be there a 4th , 5th and 6th time if you don’t do something man. I would first get a sawed off shotgun in every room and garage. Walmart special. then a big razor wire fence and then a big big mean dog chained outside. Not a pet but dog that will jump on some one were his chain hits the end 6 inches from door knob. Marty

Lol. Move... It took all of 2020 to get an offer accepted. Housing markets are still insane right now. Plus my interest rate wouldn't be this low.

I've hardly had anyone here because the fire happened early on.

I am impressed they even dusted

so many places if you aren't able to say when you call over 10K was stolen they don't even dispatch an officer.

makes you wonder how many cops live in your neighborhood

probably cameras before you do much more replacing of stuff

Sorry for your loss. My wife is on me all the time about locking my pickup at night. We do lock the house now but I just can’t get into the habit of locking the vehicles

GCP, me too. I have no clue but it took 3.5 hours for csi to get here. I didn't mind the wait if it leads to getting him arrested. Yup I'll be looking at cameras tomorrow. My neighbor caught chunks of the incident on his cameras. I am impressed with them. Google Nest cameras allow you to rotate/ move the recorded video while playing a saved video. He sent me some of the footage. Some footage shows him going to a neighbor's house and trying to get in his truck then he goes to my truck.

Pawnee, it took him about 15 seconds to access my truck. He got in around 0515 came back about 45 minutes later. Usually I'm up by 0600 0630 at the latest but twice this week I slept in. One was Wed and then today. I so wish I would have caught him inside my home. He is the luckiest person today. He should be in icu at the least.

This is one of maybe 2 cars involved. Various cars passed by him loading my stuff up. Can anyone tell me the make and model? I thinking a Buick or Ford fusion.
He is parked in front of a neighbor's house, my house is to the left of the car. View is from neighbor actors the street. My new pressure washer is popping the trick m trunk up

Sorry to hear, lots of ways to make entry less easy, your not thinking deep enough about doing them. They make it uncomfortable for you as well, but they will stop easy entry.

First one is to make doors barred from the inside with hanging mounts with 2X4's easy and quite effective one on top on the bottom, can't hardly kick one in, separate your rooms with more security so its not so easy to move thru the home. Install more motion sensor lighting inside as well !

Thieves hate light, there are all kinds of cheap motion sensor lights, battery operated or solar, that work great for discouraging entry's, you can place them up out of reach and still be activated by motion.

Re-evaluate your friendships and what they know about you and your circumstances, this sounds like a hit done before with some one knowing your patterns, trust no one about how you do things or come and go.

Which is another thing you need to change, you might be to regular in your patterns of home and gone, mix it up.

Can't afford an alarm, can't trust your pet to make any noise, it's to friendly, get an ankle biter they bark at bugs, most any small dog can't be shut up unless you make them, by then your awake and should be aware what's going on before reaching the animal, yes the ankle biters stays inside, ain't no good out in a dog kennel or the garage.

Wish you luck, I'm a very light sleeper in the back of our home and can still hear a car go by in the dead of night, if they enter my home they are not going to get out easily when they meet me !

Wow you assume a lot. NM crime is insane. At least 3 cops were shot yesterday. Just in Albuquerque there have been close to 90 murders this year.

I have very few patterns. The only pattern I have is kids school schedule. Not sleep not work not when I leave the house nothing. Sleeping in until 0715 is very rare. Usually I'm lucky if I average 4 hours a night off sleep. I didn't have to take the kids to school yesterday either.

Very few people I know have been to my house and that includes friends and family. This is the only time someone has broken in here.

Lights didn't bother this guy as from other videos he went around the neighborhood hitting other cars. For some reason he decided to take use my garage remote.

Like I said I don't know if my dog was barking I didn't hear squat. I was out.

The whole thing is out of place and doesn't make sense to me. For me to sleep straight through is rare especially while dealing with a flare up. Usually my fibro wakes me up a few times a night, and when flares up occur I'm usually up every 45 minutes in agonizing pain. My house is tiled throughout so you can imagine how loud a hound would be inside. I'm usually up very late and up very early and rarely sleep in

I've always said the same thing Grit. I'm thankful no one was injured and I'm not sitting in county orange.

All I know was God certainly protected us. For that I'm very thankful.

The guy wasn't deterred by cameras or motion lights. 3 neighbors across the street have their cameras visible and he still tried breaking into their vehicles. You can see him noticing the cameras.

From the looks of it he was probably on something

No one notices a person wearing a mask now. Easy life for thieves!

Happy no one was injured, however I don't assume much when it comes to thieves breaking and entering, it shows they are feeling very well about the entry. Also feel you may be taking much for granted with your descriptions about how things go down

He may be just as educated about you or more so than you realize and have cased you and others out already.

I have been robbed a couple times in my life, while not at home, it taught me things have to change to stop it from happening again.

And I did many of the things suggested which either made things change for them or they moved on because of the challenge exceeded their bravado.

The worst thing you can do is nothing, and just assume things will not escalate further. You get out and do things to your place and if he is close by he will know you know and are trying to do something about it. There is a reason others have cameras, personally I get offended when people call me up to look at my camera footage when something happens at their place, they just take it for granted my protection is for everyone, while it helps everyone, only I pay for it !!

Methheads steal. Easily the majority of theft is people on meth. In SD, burglary and meth possession=probation and no prison. Breaking into an occupied home will probably put you in prison. (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) shame you didnt wake up and put a few rounds into the guy. Im guessing the reason they looked for prints is the guy is breaking into occupied homes and that is a bit more bold than pulling car doors. I have Blink cameras but the notification only sometimes wakes me up. Im counting on the two dogs going nuts from someone giving the door a boot. I have also cut approx 3/4 inch white pvc to slide into every window as a secondary lock. Its small and vanishes against the white window.

Grit thanks me too. I've already made changes. I doubt he was educated about me prior to this as I really have no routine and am unpredictable even for me. He just got incredibly lucky all the way around. A different car as caught on camera hours prior casing the neighborhood. This guy tried numerous vehicles and storm doors before he popped my lock. The few neighbors I've talked to that are ashtrays outside have never seen this car before. I've never seen it either.

DWC, Yup methheads and fetynal addicts are bad. Part of the reason they dusted was because my area hardly has any issues and occupied and the valuation. I've played out numerous scenarios of me waking up catching him. It would've been an all day crime scene one way or the other.
