The Garmin Alpha 100 is about as good as it gets…track and train all with the same unit.

Sport dog used to be a cheaper version but now they are around the same price and Garmin has more accessories

I've recently been studying up on these as I'm considering getting back into fooling with dogs.
The GPS had just come out when I sold my tracking equipment so I really know nothing hands on with GPS.
But after much study if I do get back in I'm going back to what I know, specifically the tracker maxima as radio has longer range than GPS. Less weight hanging around the neck. JMO but if you need a shock collar for hunting then the dog ain't fully trained. Shock collars are for training not hunting. Radio also doesn't require subscriptions to work.
But other than that the dogtra GPS looks better to me but as said no personal hands on experience.

When I was running coon hounds I had an ASTRO 220 it was simple easy to use and worked good but it quit working and the collar clinic told me it couldn't be fixed cause it was obsolete. I would give them a call I think they refurbish them you might be able to save a little money.

X2 on collar clinic they've been around forever it seems and if it can be cleaned up and put back to good use they're the folks to do it.

Been looking and comparing for a while, and have an Alpha 200i T5 Mini Bundle in shipment right now.

Are you wanting a tracking collar only? Or a collar where you can track as well as have the e-collar functions? Either way the only way to go is Garmin, the new 200i is the way to go.

Garmin is no doubt the cadillac of GPS collars. But it was out of my price range. I got a Dogtra Pathfinder and couldn't be happier with it! The maps are nicer than the Garmin maps are too. You can download maps for where you hunt if you're in an area without cell service, otherwise you can load the maps as you go on your phone. The collar claims to work up to 8 miles. Maybe in flat land. Here in the hills, I get about 2 miles. You can add up to (I think) like 22 dogs, although you will of course need a collar for each. Battery life seems to be about 24 hours. Customer service is great too.

There is also a new one out that links to your phone for more like a Daily use I believe it's called fi? I'll try to find a link

Agreed on Garmin. The only issue I've had is at field trials where the receiver picks up other collars. Imagine it would be the same if hunting with more than one person with a garmin. Not supposed to pick up other collars unless actively pairing them. I have the just the tracker and another track and train for training. I went with the mini as it is the same weight as the just the tracker.

Dogtra is the one that uses your cell phone as a receiver. It works best in areas with GOOD cell reception though.

I have terrible cell reception. The only thing you need cell reception for is if you don't pre-download your maps. It's super easy to download your maps at home where you have wifi. I have all the ones downloaded for the areas I usually hunt. Once downloaded, you don't need cell service at all.

I've had them all over the years, still do have most, I am on my third garmin and will up date to the 200 I believe. The garmins cost will easily be recouped in gas savings while looking for your hounds. And dont believe the crap about distance, All collars run on line of site, non are so powerful that they "beep' through a mountain.

I’ve never had mine actually start tracking another collar if that’s what you’re saying…occasionally you will get an error message if there is a conflicting collar within range. It will give an option to change the tracking code or keep tracking. This happens when two collars are set to the same ‘dash’ number. For example, 1-19 will conflict with 3-19 and all other *-19 numbers within range. It’s a simple matter of reassigning a new number to your collar.
