I’ve never tried it but on another trapper’s chatroom it came up as being something coon were attracted to. Has anyone had any experience with WD40 attracting anything?

Never too old to learn

The fishing guide in BC sprayed WD on the fishing lures and he swore it worked!

The formula changed and noone I know still sprays it on lures anymore.

The old formula worked for sure.

Give an illegal alien a fish and he eats for a day. Deport him and you never have to feed him ever again!

I do not believe coon care about it or shy off, but to say they are attracted to it I would say not that I have seen.

Yeah I wouldnt trade the bottles of moonshine, night rider, bandit, or primetime in my setting bag for a can of WD40.
Like any animal, they may stop to check out an odor because its different an caught their attention as they were passing by. You could do that with diesel fuel, a wad of chewing tobacco, human pee, polo cologne, just about anything. But because they stopped to check it out doesn't mean they were interested in it, it was because the odor was different and maybe piqued their curiosity. My dog will check out lots of smells,, but he stays and works smells thst are truly interesting to him.. WD40 aint one of them. But would those other animals necessarily stay and work the set to get caught if only lured with WD40? Not likely or consistently, and won't be there long either, I'd wager.
Consistent catches come from lures and baits actually attractive to animals. Food, gland, other naturally attractive things.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

In early spring in Michigan, WD 40 mini cans are in fishermen's pockets. The quarry are the massive runs of White and Red horse suckers that flood the rivers by be right about April 1
Tackle used is simple, #4 or #6 treble hook, #7 split shot 8 inches up the line. A small chunk of sponge on the hook, sprayed with WD 40. This is fished exactly the same as a spawn sack for trout. It works, I used to doubt it, but it works. Little City called Omer Mi. About it's only claim to fame is the spring Sucker festival, complete with Sucker Queen......lol True story !

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

I know it works for fish, haven't used it in a couple years since I don't fish much (certainly not as much as the wife would like!) and hadn't heard anything about them changing the formula. But I have used it off and on at times since I was a kid, and it really works. You can spray it on a bare hook and drop it off the dock and catch bluegills and crappie on it. I've always used it either sprayed on a lure or sprayed on a bait as an added odor enticer when fishing. . . except for screwing around proving it works, like the example above of catching bluegills on a bare hook.
