I currently use a 5 gallon gas can to refuel my tractor. I usually spill as much as I get in the tractor. I am looking to buy or build something that will hold 20 to 40 gallons that I can fill at gas station then refuel from home. The ones that I have found so far are quite expensive. What works for you?

I have the same problem.
For a solution, I went the opposite direction:
Two Gallon gas cans.

I have a bunch of cans , I have ez pour spouts on https://www.amazon.com/EZ-POUR-4005...Y2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=they sell them at farm and fleet and a lot of hardware stores , there is the hi flow version and the regular you drill a hole in the handle and pop in the vent as long as you can lift the can you should be able to pour without spilling I even have them on my bar oil cans , I use 2 1/2 gallon cans for mix and bar oil with spouts , on the oil cans the screen needs to be removed I have a regular and winter weight bar oil can I stop off at the saw shop he has bulk oil and I just get a gallon when it gets low

Check out a farm sale and buy an old metal funnel with a big throat on it. 50 years ago that is what we used when refueling away from the overhead tank. I am talking about a funnel that holds a gallon or more and has about a 2 inch throat. It will take it about as fast as you can pour it and no spillage.
Providing wild fur to the industry at below the cost of production for over 50 years.
Mostly carbon neutral since 1948.

https://www.uline.com/Product/Detai...xgzhsqTFEEaAuznEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.dsThis what I use. They come in 1 1/2 gal 2 1/2 gal and 5 gal. Also yellow for diesel. You tip the can over and rest on the fill hole and then press button. They work fabulous. They fill fast and I don't really believe the auto shutoff, but just let go of button. Gary j

You can pour gas from any type of can or container into one of these funnels without spilling.

The racing fuel can looks interesting. What I use now has no vent cap and leaks around the base. I have had enough of smelling like diesel . I also found a 14 gallon tank that is gravity fed with a nozzle that is only $160.

most farm stores and rural hardware stores have big funnels I use one when putting oil in the house https://www.farmandfleet.com/produc...gFC8HR9QqbXJpsnPMmqubwbeY5MaAoYjEALw_wcBI have an offset metal funnel like this one for putting oil in the house I got it at the local farm store / hardware store https://www.amazon.com/Lumax-LX-1706-Silver-Offset-Galvanized/dp/B000MCZJY8/ref=sr_1_8?crid=308I1HS49FHCI&dchild=1&keywords=galvanized+funnel+large&qid=1630973771&sprefix=galvanized+funnel%2Cgarden%2C224&sr=8-8 the down side of funnels is that you have one more thing to keep clean in a dirty dusty environment

A marine fuel caddy with hose. You'll have to build a ramp and platform to get it above the level of the tractor fill.
