Anyone heard when they'll have the trapping regulations out this year? I just went on the website and can only find 2020's.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

When I went In and got my licenses and asked for regs they told me there had been a shortage of paper and they hadn't printed any so far.

it took them till mid august to get the regs out for seasons that started Sept 1

they seem to be running behind , I wouldn't be surprised if it took them till Oct 1

I think that's a line , cause they don't need paper to put them online. I don't think they have them ready yet

When I was the TE statewide coordinator we reviewed issues many times in March with the idea that things would be ready to go in June. It has been a couple years since so I don't know if things changed or with all the issues be they COVID, seasons etc. they are just not ready to have them published. One would have hoped by our rondy that official regs would have been out. Could well be a long term issue or change as fewer and fewer things are printed every year.

Thanks guys. I'll just wait until they come out. Just thought I'd get them reviewed so I could see what changed. Don't want to make any mistakes trapping low priced fur.

Don't know if ya'll knew this but the Wisconsin Trappers Association actually pays for the DNR to print the regulations.
Always kinda wondered about that.

This is from the WTA Board of Directors meeting minutes from July 10, 2021:

“Question was asked if the WTA will pay for paper copies of the 21/22 trapping regulation. A MOTION TO APPROVE FUNNDING FOR WISCONSIN TRAPPING REGUALTIONS PRINTED COPIES PAID FOR BY WTA NOT TO EXCEED 1,500$ BY Jeremy Ebner seconded by Larry Meyer. MOTION CARRIED.”

Spelling ain't all that great either. lol

This thing about a shortage is getting old!

No ammo.

No lumber, except at premium prices.

No TP.

No gasoline.

Trapping regs are still going through the review/proofing process. Combined hunting regs were delayed by a late approval of deer regs and a paper shortage confirmed by many individual sources. They hunting regs were available online for a week or two before they were available in print. Trapping regs likely won't be available until Oct 1 or later.

Main changes this year apply to tagging and registration for bobcat/fisher/otter.
