That stinks man. Hopefully you get the family on major medical insurance after this. It won't cover much but helps a lot with the big stuff.
Praying for a speedy recovery

And I'll bet it hurt like too! Hang in there, man. Actually the pain hasn't been horrific. kept me awake the first night - but after that has been bearable. Being self employed has its benefits -- but this aint one of them. The wife has insurance (good) through her work, but i couldn't justify the 850+ to add my daughter and myself to the policy. Gov ins was only 400 but i was making too much money this year to qualify for the subsidy. If i had the insurance would have still cost about 10 k. Those of you with health insurance covered by your employer ------ BE SURE TO THANK THEM.

Negotiations with the providers works. I have Ins and I’m still negotiating the amount Ins won’t cover. It may not be huge numbers but every little bit helps.
Get better.

Sorry to hear that Dave. You're right, we self employed have a lot to be thankful for in many ways but not having health insurance that is affordable is a crappy deal.
Hope you can wheel and deal with the providers some and get that bill whittled down. And get well!!!

Good luck on it. Hope the providers will work with you.

Good luck on it. Hope the providers will work with you. I hope so too -- haven't got all the bills yet but looks like in the 25-30k range. but if you add up what my premium would have been and the max out of pocket on the plan i would have had it would have been 17k +/-. so as long as i don't do stupid things every year i would be money ahead. I just changed the money i was putting aside for a newer service truck, and the money i wasputting aside for health insurance into paying the med bills. maybe next year? maybe not? The wife is working with all the entities involved on discounts and payment options.
