Wow..... Can't believe its going to be 20 years already. Seems just like yesterday. It feels like I've lived 3 or 4 different lives in these short 2 decades.

We all have our own unique experiences. I was 18 and waiting for my ship date to GL. Woke up late after being stupid the night before. Thought I was groggily watching a Bruce Willis movie.
We should've moved on them right after the attack on the Cole.

My daughters (8 & 14) barely know about it. Any recommendations for a movie or documentary that pulls the heart strings?

I remember doing burn outs around town in my 85 Monte Carlo LS that Wednesday night. Everyone was outside rallying. Great moment of unity.

Mohamed Atta flew by me that morning by just a few hundred yards. I was working just off the runway at the Portland International Jetport. The wife called me some time later that morning saying something big was happening. Little did I know. Closest I've ever been to that level of incarnate evil.

I was on my way to the airport in Minneapolis to catch a flight to Cleveland. Listened to the radio live as the second plane hit the tower. One of the days I will always remember.

I remember laying in a field later that day with my girlfriend and talking about how eerie there were not jets or trails in the sky.

I was Ironworking building the 2nd phase of the Princeton IN plant. Toyota put out a paper that just said the time a plan hit the first tower and that a 2nd hit and time between. No mention of terrorist . I was a young 2nd year apprentice and really did not understand what happened until I got home and saw the TV. After all the boss handed me a paper to read then it was back to work.

I did notice not a plane in the sky.

I was supposed to be working with a customer in tower 1 floor 81 , the tech got sick the day before and we canceled the work. I had 2 sites in tower 1.

a co-worker watched the 2nd plane go in from about 10 blocks away , he is still a co-worker and still lives in Manhattan.

they should probably for 20 years have a replay of the tv from 8:45 to 5pm that night and make it mandatory watching in school for 7th grade and above

Turning Point: 9/11 and The War on Terror on Netflix. It may not interest kiddos, but I thought it did a good job explaining it all, from the attacks to start of the Taliban to the massive contract waste. Check it out, I found it very interesting and thorough.

I was working at a family diner. I was 20. Owner walked by and told us a plane had hit the tower. He ran back into the office and pulled out a little old 19" TV and dragged it out to the counter where he turned it on. Customers and us workers all gathered around that tiny TV and watched as the second plane hit. Boss said we could leave if we wanted but I really had no where I needed to be so I stayed and worked out my shift. It was very dead at the restaurant after that, and when we weren't making an order, we were watching that little TV all day. I wasn't living at home then, but when I got off of work that was where I went. Spent the rest of the day with my family watching the news.

9/11 is our wedding anniversary so I won't ever forget either of them. 39 years tomorrow.

In 2001 I had gotten home about 1 a.m. from a successful bear hunt. Woke up in the morning to head to work and looked at the t.v. when my wife said a plane hit one of the towers. Was watching it when the second plane hit and I said "We're under effing attack!" Put together a small bugout bag before going to work, and added to it after I got home.
